Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

Turbocharged Monster! - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Sgt Prem - December 10 - 1:30 amThis car is a true drivers car. Acceleration, handling and brakes are racecar like. A few basic mods will turn this car into a beast. Will get you in trouble with the law if not careful. You will want to stab the throttle every time you step on the gas. I test drove the 04 M3, 06 Vette and was not impressed. I wanted to jump back in my Suby! No need to spend $50k. DCCD is a plus. Behaves like a RWD when you want it to. You HAVE to launch this car! It takes off like a rocket!

Best car for the money - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By dtro - November 11 - 10:00 amI bought this car to replace my 98 GTi VR6. I have been pleased with the car so far except that the engine light came on before the car hit 500 miles. Dealership says that its an O2 sensor, and its getting replaced tomorrow. Subaru has a great customer satisfaction rating.

Silver Outback Sport, Take 2! - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Drubaru - October 29 - 10:40 amAfter selling my 02 Outback Sport a year and a half ago, I finally made it back into the Subaru fold with the purchase of the 04 model. Both times I have been satisfied with my purchase. I miss the "bug-eyed" headlights and foglights from the 02, but everything else is pretty much aesthetically the same. I love the confidence I feel. I remember on a snowboarding trip in 03 being waved on by the Rangers at Big Bear Mtn. while everyone else was forced over to apply snow chains. HA! Subaru? No chains needed. Just drive. Whenever. Wherever.

SubiNewbi - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By SubiNewbi - October 23 - 10:00 amIm in love with my 2.5 RS. Yes its a WRX lite, but I saved a lot of green on the overall cost and insurance. Plus the RS is a great performer. Gotta have the 5 speed though. Ive had zero problems after 1,500 miles. The car is tight. Great feel. Awesome brakes. Comfortable, sporty seats. Shifting is a little stiff. Subaru should study manual trannys at Nissan. Dealers are eager to sell this car. You can get a great price, and probably just about any of the options at cost.

STI is not only a car, but a tuner name - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By WreXinefx - October 23 - 10:00 amWhen you own the STI, you are getting Subarus inhouse tuner and they also work with Prodrive for their WRC car. This car is as close to driving the WRC Rally car as you can get here. 0-60 in less than 5 secs and it will eat corners and airborne over apexes. Watchout M3, S4, pushrod American muscle cars! This is the car the will decimate all.

My STi - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By aballen - October 23 - 10:00 amI absolutely love my STi. I recently became a father and had to get a more practical car than my TT Roadster. The STi turned out to be perfect. Its faster than my old car, and there is plenty of room for a child seat in the back. It handles well, in my opinion, though it is not as responsive as my old roadster.

Good Car, could be great - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By VOLFAN - October 16 - 10:00 amI love this car for its all around utility, performance and price. I am a little disaapointed in some of the build quiality but I knew this going into it as many others have complained of thin paint, thin windshields, and build quality just slightly better than a Dodge. My biggest concern is the CEL that has now come on twice and I have only driven the car 125 miles! Loose fuel caps can cause this thing to light up?! Sounds like SOA needs to redesign that. I love the car though even though it is quirky

Great even for daily driver - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By philw007 - October 16 - 10:00 amI traded in my mitsu 3000gt vr-4 for this awesome upgrade. Although same hp, the sti just feels so much more responsive with minimal turbo lag. The interior could be nicer, but its way better than the evo. The suspension is a little easier on you than the evo, making this a better choice if you are using for daily driver. I love the AWD coupled with the DCCD and supersport ABS braking system. The Defi gauges in the beautiful glowing red and cool starting sequence is excellent. Dont think about buying this car...just buy it!

Excellent Buy - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Kevin/Frog - October 10 - 2:00 amI was very impressed with my new subaru. It is fun to drive and you feel really safe behind the wheel. You feel like you have complete control of the car in all weather conditions. Not to mention the car is quick and sporty. The only drawback is the thin coat of paint chips easily.

Subaru WRX STI awsome performer - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Purcell - October 10 - 2:00 amThis car is just plain fun to drive. For a 2.5 liter engine it has neck snapping mid range torque. The exhause note is music to your ears. It is much more of a total package than I had expected. From the Brembo brakes, six speed transmission, 300 ponies and sophisticated all wheel dirve system this car is off the chart for value.
