Overview & Reviews
The regular 2012 Subaru Impreza has been completely redesigned. Highlights include a more fuel-efficient engine, updated styling and a roomier and higher-quality interior. Last year's high-performance WRX and STI variants carry over unchanged. The Outback Sport has been discontinued.
- Disappointing cabin quality of WRX and STI
- STI lacks the dynamic edge of rivals
- Substandard sound systems.

MPG ? - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By fracker - November 16 - 7:04 amOn 2nd tank ,I got 32.2 mpg on a 230 mile trip. My old Honda Civic gets 37+ on the exact same trip and was originally rated at 36 mpg highway like the Impreza. I have no options on my hatcback as I read the weight of the total cruise control package decreases mpg by 22+miles per tank(over 1 mpg). Am puzzled by the cars loss of speed going down hills. I have to gas it to maintain speed where my other vehicles can coast, saving fuel. Strange. Car is good in snow. to get accurate mpg readings it is important to completely fill the tank each time.It takes awhile to get all the air out of this cars tank.

Horrible gas mileage!! - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By unhappy_imprez - October 28 - 11:40 pmI bought the 2012 Impreza hatchback in January 2012. Ive had the car for 4 months now, drivin it 4000 miles, and has not gotten ANYWHERE near the bosted gas mileage they said. The only reason I bought this vehicle was becuase they stated that gas mileage was suppose to get 27-30 city and 35-40 highway. In all reality...it gets 18-22 city and 27-30 highway. So, if anyone is going to buy this for the advertised mileage, dont do it!! I also dont like the fact that the heated seats dont stay on. It turns on and off periodically.

First Subaru - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By yorksubaru - July 9 - 8:09 pmThis is my very first Subaru, and I was a bit hesitant since all Ive owned were Hondas and toyotas. But I have to say, Im impressed with my purchase thus far. This car feels very safe and is a great value for an awd. Fuel efficiency is good, getting on average 29 mpg mostly highway. Not anywhere near the EPA ratings at the dealer, but i anticipate it to improve as its broken in more as I just have 3000 miles (5000 km). Seats are nice and supportive, better than our previous civic which constantly gave me back pains. Styling at the front is kinda boring looking, but the rear looks real sporty. As for acceleration, I wont be in any street races, thats for sure.

WORST CAR I have EVER owned - and Ive owned some crappy cars - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By medic0749 - May 15 - 10:04 pmWhat a piece of crap. I bought this worthless excuse of a vehicle for 24,000.00 and it had 9 miles on it, that was 45 days ago. This "reliable" POS has been in the shop for repairs twice. Its "AWD" has put me in the ditch once already with a couple other near misses. Ive been driving vehicles for over 20 years, I drive an ambulance for a living. Ive never been in the ditch before owning this lame car. I used to own a 2001 subary impreza, what happened in 10 years. You really put your name on this POS? Most god awful, piece of junk on the road under the false pretense of 37 mpg (LOL!) and reliable? Cmon into the dealers twice in under 45 days! Get the extended warranty. 500miles

Great car for the money - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By sanirudh - March 20 - 7:27 amI have driven the Impreza for about 800+ miles now. I find that the car handles well and keeps me on the road where many other cars would falter. The car is tremendously versatile with regards to its cargo space, with the roof rails and the foldable rear seats.

2012 Subaru Impressa - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By david watts - January 14 - 12:01 amThis is a very reliable and likable car. One owner, regular maintenance, mostly freeway driving. Looks fine. Never been in the shop for unscheduled maintenance.

Constantly Amazed With This Car - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By dodman1 - January 10 - 4:34 amI have 4300 miles on my 2012 Limited Sedan and I could not be happier. I read some of the bad reviews and dont understand how anyone could give this car a bad review. It was very inexpensive and I am amazed by the overall experience. It rides great, handles very well, looks good, has many great features, performs well for its class, and returns excellent gas mileage. And lets not forget the AWD. Really folks, this is not a $60,000 premium sedan. It is however, an excellent car for a very reasonable price. I consistently get between 33 and 35 miles to the gallon with a mix of highway and country road driving. Buy this car before Subaru realizes they priced it too low!!!

Exactly what I was looking for - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By mountaintundra - December 29 - 1:31 pmI havent been this excited about a car since I had a Citroen CX GTi (in England) in 1982! And the amazing part is that its a fairly basic car that I love. It has leg room and head room that you expect from a bigger car, comfy seats, decent handling, AWD, and awesome gas mileage (35 average in the summer). Its not perfect, but it does everything I want it to do, including starting at -27F without a block heater and going through snow without drama. Very impressive. This is our 4th Subaru. We drove the competition and there is nothing available that I would rather have.

Oil Consumption - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By csl12 - December 5 - 4:26 pmWe bought the 2012 Impreza after our 2004 was totaled. We also own a Forester and have owned 3 others. We have had check engine, oil pressure, and low oil warnings 7 times in two years. In particular, weve had low oil 5 times within the past 7 months and only 7,000 miles. The car is definitely burning oil. Dealer agrees its burning oil and is not leaking. It doesnt leak "enough" and is considered to be "normal" by the service manager. As a 25 year Subie owner, I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the vehicle and Subarus inaction. I doubt well be another Subie- but I do LOVE my 2010 Forester (before the engine change!!!)

A great car, for the most part - 2012 Subaru Impreza
By nkrish - October 26 - 10:29 amWhen I initially got the car, it was winter and I did get some not-so-impressive mileage ratings which made me think I had made a bad decision, since mpg was one of the biggest factors for buying this vehicle. But it got better in a few months after getting it - either because the engine was broken in, or because it is summer now. I am happier now than I was then. Some minor issues prevent me from giving it an awesome rating.
