This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • The best of the best - 2004 Subaru Impreza

The Sti is the 8th sports/sporty car I have owned. My previous ones were a 2000 S2000, 2001 S2000, 2002 Acura TL type s, etc... I have 5K miles now and use it as my daily driver in Portland.. rain city. This car is perfect in every single possible way. You get well what you pay for. Its just utter bruit power in a livable package. I have not had a single problem, its been as reliable as the 98 civic EX I once owned. Its best described as a car in the class of other $20K- $25K cars in quality with the perf of a $100K car at only an increase of $5K.

The car is ridiculously fun to drive and makes an excellent daily driver. I have had the car a month and driving it is fun everytime i get into it. Performance is pretty good but cant really compare to the STI or EVO, but what it loses in performance it makes up for in driving ease. So far in the month ive had it the windshield got cracked and the cam shaft was leaking and so Freehold subaru had to replace the camshaft and timing belt(no charge of course). If the windshield needs to be replace it is going to cost 900 bux b/c of the wiper de-icer. Love the car, but am a little worried about quality with so many problems so soon.

UPON PURCHASING MY WRX I DID AN EXTENSIVE REVEIW AND COMPARISON WITH THE MITSUBISHI EVO...FOR ONE WHOLE YEAR.BASED ON MY EXP WITH BOTH VEHICLES I FOUND THE SUBARU LESS MAINTAINANCE PRONE,ONLY B/C MITSUBISHI HAS AN EXTENSIVE MAINT.REQUIREMENTS LIST.ALSO THE SUBARUS ACTIVE VALVE TIMING PROVES ITS BETTER SUITED FOR DAILY USES WITH IS WHAT ITS INTENDED FOR.

  • It hauls! - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Still in the honeymoon stage. I am trying to learn a car w/ turbo. The lag in the low revs is unbearable at times. The understeer needs to be adjusted. Good build quality and sporty-feeling, but not as "nice" as the 03 Jetta we own. Great power, Great utility. It hauls! Love the smooth turbo.

  • Great Car For the $ - 2004 Subaru Impreza

This is a good car to have if you drive a lot especially. The TS is stable to drive in adverse weather conditions. The cars weight keeps it planted well on roads. Engine power is good for both city and highway driving, with a power band that produces even power thoughout. Everyone looking for a car in this price range should drive it to compare with other cars. This car is worth your time, especially if you test drive it in slippery road conditions. Give it a try!

  • SuperCar Performance... - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Subaru got everything right on the STi! Look at the performance features: 300HP/300ft-lbs TQ, Short-throw 6-Spd, dual LSDs, DCCD System, Brembos, BBSs...the list goes on. The STis "fun-factor" is phenomenal. It is difficult to find a true flaw with this car. Ive had the opportunity to now drive mine in snow, in which it did not disappoint (clad in all season tires).

  • Fun to Drive - 2004 Subaru Impreza

The WRX is just fun to drive, and with the rear spoiler its a great looker as well. I was a bit surprised on how solid it feels on the road, after all it is a small car. Theres just a solid feeling about it. Its a very quick car in all gears. The engine takes the revs easily and makes it a joy to run up past 6K. You can just throw it into a turn, and the car just asks for more.

The Impreza WRX with the automatic transmission is a total joy to drive. Confidence inspiring with the all wheel drive. There is turbo lag below 3000 rpm. However, the engine has more than enough power to move along smoothly in rush hour type traffic. When the turbo kicks in, the car really gets up and goes. Great handling. Car design is practical, what with four doors and a reasonable sized trunk.

Great car, fun to drive. Beautiful inside and out. For the car enthusiast, you can add on nearly 100 horsepower with only a few mods. Fast, yet safe, all wheel drive gives complete control of the road. Manual transmission is a thrill. I would never consider buying any other car at the same price level. A terrific buy.
