This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • Hottest little station wagon in town. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

An excellent and versatile car in all respects. Traded my 2000 Subaru Outback Sport Wagon for the 04 WRX wagon- they look a bit alike, but beyond that there is nothing similar about them whatsoever. The WRX is superior from the engine back, every knob, button and switch and everything they operate feels, sounds and works better.

Apart from the boy racer looks (when will they get rid of the basket handle and give us a tasteful wing?), this is a fantastic car.

I bought a 2004 WRX SportWagon at the end of August of 03. In a few months Ive already put nearly 8,000 miles on the car. Ive not had a single problem with it to date. The performance is very good. The handling (stock tires and suspension) could be improved upon, but is by no means disappointing. I got the wagon for its cargo hauling ability and have not once regretted the choice. I would buy this vehicle again without hesitation.

  • One of the best! - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I just bought a new wrx, and i am absolutely thrilled with the car. The performance is unbelievable, the looks are extremely sexy, it handles amazingly, and the AWD is probably the greatest feature of the car. I never lose traction in this car and i have to say, its much better than the previous cars I have owned. My last car was a 1999 Acura Integra Gs-r, with many modifications done to it, and it still is slower than this wrx. The wrx is so much fun to drive, and the momo steering wheel and boost gauge really top everything off.

  • Best Bang for the buck performance - 2004 Subaru Impreza

If you want a car that performs like a 60,000 dollar car for half the price this is it. Let me tell you this car is a champ with the background of a championship winning car in the World Rally Championship. A lot of the features are derived from the actual rally car. It handles awesome and accelerates awesome. This car will beat most European cars on the road easily. You will laugh at most stock Japanese cars.

Driving mountain roads is challenging when dry - try three weeks of 1 - 3 of snow! Even in newer snow/slush - no apprehension (and this from someone who has rolled a vehicle at 45 mph on a straight, dry stretch - inexplicable accidents do happen). Needless to say, the "ready to roll" feeling has changed from one of apprehension to one of - lets go and drive. Also, driving 5 hours at a stretch presents no bodily discomfort.

You cant go wrong. Four doors makes it family friendly. I just had a son, and my wife didnt make me get rid of the hotrod. Stock mustangs are no match, you smoke them of the line and they chatch up. The price for the car is a dream, under $24,000 for the 5- speed. I bought mine in 2001 when they first came out, have put over 60,000 miles going to work and school and still have not had a single problem.

Great car, fun to drive, the only reason I would trade it in is for a 04 STI.

I am very satisfied with my purchase of my 04 wrx turbo wagon. I would highly recomend this car to anyone. It handles wonderfully in the snow and rain.

This is simply the closest thing to a WRC car most of us will ever get to drive and it is simply stunning. Push this car to the limit and you will be rewarded.
