This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

Im in love with my 2.5 RS. Yes its a WRX lite, but I saved a lot of green on the overall cost and insurance. Plus the RS is a great performer. Gotta have the 5 speed though. Ive had zero problems after 1,500 miles. The car is tight. Great feel. Awesome brakes. Comfortable, sporty seats. Shifting is a little stiff. Subaru should study manual trannys at Nissan. Dealers are eager to sell this car. You can get a great price, and probably just about any of the options at cost.

  • STI is not only a car, but a tuner name - 2004 Subaru Impreza

When you own the STI, you are getting Subarus inhouse tuner and they also work with Prodrive for their WRC car. This car is as close to driving the WRC Rally car as you can get here. 0-60 in less than 5 secs and it will eat corners and airborne over apexes. Watchout M3, S4, pushrod American muscle cars! This is the car the will decimate all.

I absolutely love my STi. I recently became a father and had to get a more practical car than my TT Roadster. The STi turned out to be perfect. Its faster than my old car, and there is plenty of room for a child seat in the back. It handles well, in my opinion, though it is not as responsive as my old roadster.

  • Great even for daily driver - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I traded in my mitsu 3000gt vr-4 for this awesome upgrade. Although same hp, the sti just feels so much more responsive with minimal turbo lag. The interior could be nicer, but its way better than the evo. The suspension is a little easier on you than the evo, making this a better choice if you are using for daily driver. I love the AWD coupled with the DCCD and supersport ABS braking system. The Defi gauges in the beautiful glowing red and cool starting sequence is excellent. Dont think about buying this car...just buy it!

I was very impressed with my new subaru. It is fun to drive and you feel really safe behind the wheel. You feel like you have complete control of the car in all weather conditions. Not to mention the car is quick and sporty. The only drawback is the thin coat of paint chips easily.

  • Subaru WRX STI awsome performer - 2004 Subaru Impreza

This car is just plain fun to drive. For a 2.5 liter engine it has neck snapping mid range torque. The exhause note is music to your ears. It is much more of a total package than I had expected. From the Brembo brakes, six speed transmission, 300 ponies and sophisticated all wheel dirve system this car is off the chart for value.

  • Bang for your buck - 2004 Subaru Impreza

This car can embarass muscle cars especially in the corners where it counts. Superb engine, no real turbo lag unlike my previous WRX.This is thanks to the bigger displacement and valve timing. All wheel drive is great although I have reservations as to how necessary the DCCD is. Also the suretrack front diff seems to enhance understeer not reduce it and makes a grinding noise when it is working as it is mechanincal as opposed to viscous.

  • Stealth Wagon!!! Glad I waited for 04. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Glad I waited for the 04s - redesign is stunning with mucho BIGGER scoop, sexier front end and rear tailights, interior ceiling is upgraded (was cheepy in the 03), headrest/seat is combined (cool), seats are more bolstered with improved fabric, Tach in CENTER with silver edgings around gauges, paid $1,100 for aftermarket sunroof (love it). Car handles beyond my expectations. Look forward to my commute now and constantly look for other WRXers.

This car is the best I ever drove. I really loved the Preformance. It is amazing for a car at this price. If "you" ever get a chance to dirve one, dont hesitate. It might just be the best experiance "you" will ever have driving a car.

This is my 4th subaru (3 Legacies before). Loved them all, but this one is the most fun Ive had since my old Mazda RX2.
