Overview & Reviews
The 2.5 RS now has drive-by-wire electronic throttle control and a new four-speed automatic transmission. The dashboard center stack/console has been redesigned with improved cupholders and fancier metallic trim. The 2.5 RS wagon, which boasts the RS sedan's upgraded suspension tuning, alloy wheels and sport seats, has replaced last year's 2.5 TS wagon. The WRX picks up automatic climate control, redesigned alloy wheels and body-color ground effects. Smoke-tinted headlight lenses and revised exterior colors round out the changes.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Tight rear quarters, limited availability of side airbags.

Smile - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Kypho - December 18 - 10:00 amI havent stopped smiling since the day I picked it up. I ordered White w/ silver wheels so I could be inocuous yea right, with a superbird spoiler and a hood scoop the size of the Holland Tunnel. VERY fast, stops as good as it goes too. Excellent handling with tons of gawking factor. I get comments everywhere. Youd have to spend two or three times as much $ to achieve this level of automotive panache (Mitsu Evo excepted), and even then the STi would cause serious embarrassment for the "high rollers". This is the very serious car with extremely high limits that can get you out of trouble as easily as it got you into it. It invites serious driving and

A true drivers car - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Stephen - October 23 - 9:50 pmThis is a car for anybody who loves driving and wants some performance to go along with utility. At this price, I do not know of any other car that provides this kind of performance and handling with 4 doors and all-wheel drive. This car puts you in a special community too: other WRX drivers on the road ALWAYS smile and wave at me! How many other Japanese sedans have that kind of following?

The greatest car on the road - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Michael - September 13 - 8:08 pmThis vehicle is unapologetically very fast and has a very aggressive road presence. This is a road going rally car, and as so all the intelligence lacking buttons in the cabin it has in performance. For the 2005 Wrx Sti comes standard with fully active LSD and ABS monitoring AWD, front/rear torque adjusting center differential with 4×4 locking, water spraying intercooler, differential heat monitoring, Brembo performance braking, 17 inch BBS wheels, Sti tuned suspension, adjustable shift light, a shorter-ratio 6 speed standard transmission, 4 way adjustable HID low beams, bucket seats, an aluminum alloy 2.5 liter flat 4 cylinder equipped with an IHI VF39 turbo producing 300hp @6000rpms 14 psi boost pressure from the factory 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. This is not for taking your mom to breakfast or grocery getting, but makes a great weekend driver or track day monster.

Subaru is awesome - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By STI - September 7 - 9:50 pmAfter weeks and weeks of looking for a car I narrowed to 2 and it was a 05 BMW 545 and a 05 sti and after test driving the bimmer I went to test drive to subie and as soon as I shifted to 2nd my decision was made. This car is so fun to drive, I get a kick watching people in my passenger seats. So quick and tough. Subaru has something going with their vehicles theyre all good ones.

Great kid car - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Dcrespo - August 21 - 5:13 pmI was looking for a car for my 16 year old son - required ABS, Airbags and AWD (we live in CO). This car has enough power to make it thru the mountains and gets 30 mpg. It holds all his hockey gear and it is easy to find tires and parts.

If I could put higher than a 10, I would - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Aliye - August 16 - 9:16 amMy brother first introduced me to the Subaru brand, and even at the very first test drive, I fell in love with this car! I have nothing bad to say about it; it is amazing and sooooo much fun to drive.

Never Again - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By xtrmr - August 1 - 3:30 amI bought this car after researching it against its competitors and hearing that they were great cars. I owned the car from 6/05-8/06 and put 33k on it. The dealership got to know me on a first name basis over this time. Problem areas that I encountered: keyless entry+chirp replaced, got a nail in one of the tires and had to replace all 4= $700, overheated 2x on a short 500 mi trip - left stranded, exhaust manifold began to rattle - had to be re-welded on, leather wrapped steering wheel came undone after a month, rattling speaker on left side had to be replaced 3 times, inconsistent cruise control+/-15mph but dealership couldnt fix, and trunk release amongst a handful of other problems.

Great Car - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By Greg Case - July 13 - 10:46 pmThe car is fabulous. It is the best bad weather car I have ever driven. It is very stable in the rain and snow. It does require snow tires for snow use, as the OE summer tires have no snow tread. The performance of the car is great. It responds to inputs similar to a racecar. The tires, suspension, and steering have little compliance, which makes it so responsive. The engine has plenty of low end torque and good top end power. I was surprised at just how much better the engine and handling is compared to the standard WRX. The engine alone is probably worth the price difference, and the handling makes it even better yet. Its handling is close to neutral, and the steering responds to throttle.

Made the Right Choice - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By BaRoK - July 5 - 9:00 amGot it over a week ago and I cant take my hand off the wheels. I was aiming for the turbo model but decided to go for the RS mainly because of fuel economy, theft avoidance and its my daily driver. Its a thrill to drive especially on twisty corners. Gears and suspension are outstanding. The engine growls like a beast. Overall, Im very satisfied with my RSs performance and handling. Cant wait to drive it snow.

The car of the Century - 2005 Subaru Impreza
By smurfy - July 2 - 12:16 pmThis car is an amazing vehicle, although it is not as gas efficient as i would like, i would not trade it in for anything, it is the funnest car to drive, just hearing that turbo whistling is music to my ears.
