For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

It took me two and a half months to locate the one that I wanted (Platinum Silver) and get the dealer to sell it to me below MSRP. But the wait was completely worth it, and still would have been even if I had had to pay MSRP. It is a great car, fun to drive, and amazing in the rain... so sure footed! Performance is great... my dad has a 2003 Corvette and the STI hangs with it no problem and if it is raining, I leave him sitting there spinning his wheels.

4 Door Sports Car - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By 50+Driver - July 6 - 10:00 amI expect to put about 250,000 miles on this car at a rate of 50,000 miles per year driving the car for business. If you dont mind a taut suspension, the car accelerates briskly and handles brilliantly regardless of weather or road conditions. I used to drive a 99 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and this car is much livelier although the suspension is less forgiving on rough pavement. If reliability, AWD and the "fun-to-drive" factor are high priorities for you, then give this car serious consideration. Its back seat is cramped for adults but can be used for smaller children. If you want a more sedate ride, then check out a Legacy.

By JoyceM - June 30 - 10:00 amThis vehicle is absolutely the most fun to drive. Two guys that I work with (all of us are in our 40ies) told me I would love it, and I do!! It makes me smile every time I drive it. I drove the 350Z and Infinity G35 coupe before I bought my STI. The STI will smoke either vehicle.

By Gabiker - May 29 - 2:00 amAbsolute joy to drive! Plenty of power (any more and Id be in trouble) and handles and drives so much better than my Explorer. Interior room was a concern, but so far I havent missed it. I just returned from a 1500 mile roadtrip with mountains, interstates, and some snow, and the car handled it all better than anything Ive ever driven. I considered the Forester, but I just liked the sportier feel (and lower price) of the OBS.

By xbox - May 24 - 10:00 am227 HP is more horsepower than a 1990 Mustang GT. All wheel drive means you get to use all of it too. Its outstanding in the snow, and a blast to drive. It will go faster than 95% of the population wants to go, period. It has a nice lumpy cam, and performance parts abound to allow you to personalize it. I think it might be the best performance bargain out there. If you dont like OPEC, buy an Acura RSX. But if you dont mind 20 mpg, live in the snowbelt, and want anonymous high zoot, reliable performance, go get one.

By NewREXDude - May 24 - 2:00 amIve driven hundreds of cars over the years (I used to work at GM) and the WRX is one of my favorite. Im not interested in being a "tuner", so I wanted a fun to drive, everyday, AWD car. I drove the EVO and found it too harsh, and the STI was too expensive (although really sweet). I commute in my WRX over crappy PA roads and find it fairly quiet and smooth. The interior, although not luxurious, is very nice and the build quality is excellent. No problems at all so far. Performance is more than adequate for spirited driving. I definitely made the right choice. Also considered: Saab 9-3, EVO, STI, Mini Cooper, BMW 3 series, TSX.

A supercar for the rest of us - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By jokerman1 - April 29 - 10:00 amIm 45, with a wife and 2 young kids, and probably dont fit the demographic for this car. Nonetheless, its my daily driver, and its outrageous! Ive owned 2 porsches, 3 bmws, and many other cars - but Ive got to say this one takes the cake for value+performance. At first I was planning to remove the wing, but its growing on me and Ive decided to keep it. Ive never met a highway on-ramp I didnt like, and with this car daily driving is a real treat.
