Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Only a month old and I love my CX-7! Coming from my old fullsize SUV, the CX-7 is a ball to drive and it turns heads. The CRV or Subaru may be slightly better vehicles, but who wants to be boring? If youre an aftermarket pimp, the CX-7 is sure to spawn tons of bolt-on goodies. Its too early to judge MPG on my CX-7 yet, but its no Prius.

Overall, I like the car a lot. My biggest concern is that the windshield gets really foggy to the point that forms water droplets in the inside of glass. Another issue is that when I close the window in the auto mode, sometimes it opens half way by itself (both driver and passenger windows).

Very pretty head turner but not impressed. Horrible gas mileage and premium fuel need is painful! Peppy turbo has power but very jumpy/jerky. Pretty, sleek interior design but ZERO places to put anything with only a deep, dark cave of a console to fish through. Into shop already for headlight repair with 15000 miles on it. Stock tires are winter death traps. MUST purchase snow tires at $200+each or risk death. What traction control? CX-7 is all style but no substance! Dont bother!

  • Mazda CX-7: fantastic crossover - 2008 Mazda CX-7

Ive owned this car for just under a month now, and am totally blown away by how much fun it is to drive. I have a Lexus ES 300, and bought this car for my wife. But I find myself arguing with her over who gets to drive this on the weekend. Great looking exterior, good looking interior, excellent functional features. I got the GT AWD with the technology package - just love the way the nav screen moves to reveal the CD player. For a family of 2 who needs more space but doesnt want to go for a large SUV, this is perfect. The way the turbocharger kicks in to give the car a boost, is phenomenal. Gripes include an over sensitive light sensor that dims the screen, no memory seats.

I have enjoyed driving this car for more than a year and a half now. At this time, though, I have 19k miles and need new tires. Also, the fuel economy could be better, this is why I selected the 4 cylinder. Otherwise, the interior has weathered my family and dog wonderfully and the car has as much pick up as the day I drove it off the lot.

We bought this car a little over a month ago, Traded a 2008 Scion TC for it cause our little family had grown by 1 more. Aside from the MPGs I have no real complaints about it. The brakes needed changed at less than 30K but i undertook that task myself & it has a slight vibration at 50-60mph that im still trying to track down. But its an amazing car to own, its fast & sporty. The older kids (6&8) absolutely love it, Just wish i had gotten one with more options.

I have had a lot of fun in my CX-7. It is just the vehicle, I have been looking for for a long time. It drives like a dream. Very well designed inside and out.

The wife purchased this vehicle and although it does not have the bells and whistles of an optioned model (sure wish it had a few more basic ones though) we are very pleased with it. Working with dealership on a few issues but over all very impressed. The 2009 motor vs the 2010 motor is night and day and the main reason for buying an 09

  • Buy One!! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Bought this car for my wife as her daily car. She loves it, I love it. Lots of style, the turbo is a blast and it looks great on the road (I noticed a lot of young ladies driving these on a recent business trip to Miami, but dont tell my wife). We havent found the gas mileage to be a problem, probably getting around 500 kms to a tank of gas. We thought the level of standard features was ample and the level of comfort outstanding. The ride is firm and sporty without compromising comfort and I would recommend one of these without a second thought. The price was very reasonable also. Buy one!!

  • My Favorite Car - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Ive had the car a little over a month and, by far, its the best car I have owned. Mazda really gives you bang for your buck. Quality is outstanding, ride is comfortable but firm (more like a sports car than like a plushy car). It handles superbly, and I didnt feel like there was any adjustment period coming from a smaller car - it felt natural to drive. I even parallel parked it the first week of ownership (of course, rear-view camera helps). I dont agree with anyone who says it needs a V6. Theres no guarantee a V6 is going to take "regular" gas... look at the BMW. They also arent more efficient. Look at real-world results from CUVs with the 6... they are averaging about the same MPG.
