Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • Enjoying My Ride! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I had the privledge of selecting the type of car purchased by my employer. Crossovers were my choice of vehicle type, so the choice was between the Honda CR-V, Madza CX-7, or Nissan Murano price range. Test driving all three was fun, but I found that the Mazda had more sports car like characteristics than the others. I am a consultant, and often drive 400 mile trips in a given day, with meetings. The car is awesome for such trips. I arrive in comfort, refreshed, and ready to consult. Glad I picked the CX-7. Almost feel guilty sometimes, most people in my profession drive pickups. Enjoy my Zoom Zoom Zoom Mazda.

  • Fun, Runs Rough at 70mph? - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Wile looking for a new small SUV for my wife, we drove FX35, Pilot, MDX, RX330, 4 Runner, Highlander, Explorer, Murano, etc. Price and options drove us to the CX-7. I was sold on the FX35, but wife was unwilling to spend the additional $10k. While we like the car, the turbo lag is a killer. Im hesitant to pull out into traffic because it is so unpredictable. Also, I sense the engine runs slightly rough at highway speeds (70mph or around 2000rpm). I had it in once and they claim to have replaced the ignition coil. It also has a rattle they cannot find which sounds like the rear wiper is falling off at 60+mph. Not happy with the solutions so far, might trade it if they cant fix it.

  • First SUV last Mazda!!! - 2009 Mazda CX-7

Great combination of sport and utility. Hate to say interior looks nice but cheap quality material, winds noise and side mirror vibrates when drive more than 60 mph, found alot of blind spots. Back lights each set for 569.00 plus tax!!. Too much rounds to gas station after buying it. Purchased my 09 CX-7 AWD Sport (w/Leather)in July for USD 23000 OTD (out the door) and showed to my cousin and next month he bought 2010 (no leather) but with more nicer interior and options for 21,000 OTD same dealer, which makes me little sad. Fun to drive but be ready to get TICKET!!.

  • What Lines - 2008 Mazda CX-7

Stunning exterior lines accent this perfect sized SUV. Solid footing allows you throw this platform into a switch-back with a peace of mind. The lows, much too noisy cabin, turbo lag, and eats tires every 20K.

  • It will be one year.... - 2008 Mazda CX-7

in a few weeks since I bought the 08 CX7. It has 18k miles, and I havent had any problems with the vehicle. I brought the Sport but it came with some options (nav, Bose system, moon roof, Sirius, remote start). The CX7 is the perfect size for me. Overall, I enjoy the CX7.

  • Do not buy CX-7 AWD - 2009 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Do not buy a Mazda CX-7 with AWD! Mazda has a serious vibration issue in all the Cx-7 AWD models. From 55 to 100 mph (yes, I tested to 100) the car has a vibration in the AWD system. I tried to get it repaired and they tried for a while and gave up. We found four examples and they all vibrated. They now consider the vibration "normal". They refused to replace mine because "it would not eliminate the problem". I tested almost all the CUVs out there... none vibrate like this! Beware! They are not going to fix this!!

  • Not Bad - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Ive had mine for 1 1/2 years now and have no complaints. Fuel mileage, as late as today is averaging 21.8 mpg in city/hwy with my wife driving it (18 when I drive it). It fits our daughter and everything that goes along with her perfectly. Im glad we popped for the GT but I wish Id spent a tad more for the nav system. Weve had our CX-7 in the rain and snow and the FWD was just fine. Traction control was great.

  • Sold Benz for the CX-7 - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Was tired of commuting and carting kids to sporting events in a car that had bad gas mileage and was always dirty. Selected the Mazda as an affordable, reliable and bad weather capable car that I wouldnt mind getting a bit dirty. Looked at the Tribeca and RDX. Tribeca drove like a mini van and the MDX was overpriced.

  • Great CUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

As lots of others here, I drove lots of other CUVs. I traded in my Audi A4 Quattro. I was very worried about losing performance and handling of the A4, but with the CX its all here! It still blows me away when I hit it off the line. Its so fast for this size of vehicle. The gas does suffer while doing quick starts, but to me its worth the performance! The other CUVs in its class were boring and felt numb. This is a CUV for people who love to drive!

  • Great family car with sporty look! - 2010 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I loved driving the car for long and short distance rides with my wife and 15 month old son. The big light truck tires are exactly what you need on Michigan roads with tons of potholes. The car is quite heavy, but still handling was great in all whether conditions. I was driving on wet streets, in ice and snow (having snow tires) and always felt a bit ahead of the other guys, because the car is very stable.
