Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • So far so good - 2009 Mazda CX-7

In 9 months I made put 25K km (17K in miles) and everything is perfect. Ive been to a few long trips, its such a fun to drive this car at these long trips - this is where its a its best. Gas mileage is a bit on the high side, especially at winter, but hey, you cant have everything. Im a bit worried reading all the bad reliability reviews for 2007 that I decided to write this one. So far, I love this car.

Just had my GT Tech package CX7 delivered to me Friday night (10/6/06) and used it immediately on a 550 mile trip to Plainfield Mass. and back. Heres the skinny. Sound system...everything everyone said about it was correct. Rocks power...better than expected for the weight, nice acceleration. Tech package...must have, simple as that. Handling... by far the best thing about the car. I was doing about 75mph on serious switchbacks up in the mountains and I can honestly say that this car handles about as well as my old Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 did, and that was a high end sports car. This car is tight and a real joy to drive, especially in the right circumstances.

  • Best Crossover for your $ - 2010 Mazda CX-7

I have had my Mazda CX-7 for a month now. It has been nothing short of a great experience. The display of average and current fuel economy is helpful. What set it apart from others in its price range was the interior styling. I chose the black cloth, which has silver accents on the door panels. The trunk space is amazing, with enough room to pack essentials for a weekend getaway. It is comfortable on long drives and handles great on curves, hills, you name it. Spring for the iSport model over the iSV edition. The Bluetooth alone is worth it.

Sleek. Fast. Comfortable. I got a great price on this. CX-7 was not a vehicle I was looking for, but stumbled upon. It drives so smooth I end up over 80mph before I know it. At least, smoother than the Jeep Liberty I traded in for this. You cannot believe how much power the engine has until your drive it. Interior functionality is much better than the Liberty. Wish it had a better stereo (4 speakers, distorts when loud). Still waiting to see the real gas mileage. Massive dashboard and front window takes some getting used to.

  • CX7 review from prev. Tribeca owner - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Ive had the CX-7 for a little over 4 mths and really enjoy driving this vehicle. It drives more like a car than a truck. I previously owned a Subaru B-9 Tribeca 06. I love the CX7 styling, leather interior, heated seats, Nav etc. The CX7 handles better than the Tribeca, i.e., more fun to drive. The CX7 has a nicer looking Nav system but a trip computer/mpg readout should be integrated in for future models. MPG is better with CX7 by about 2mpg ie. about 17 w/ CX7 compared to 15 w/tribeca overall observed.

Bought this CX7 2008 model around Jan 09. Got huge discount... I got 6k less than msrp. great deal. Drove my car from batonrouge la to los angeles ca close to 1800 miles and didnt feel a bit tired... drove (9-10 hrs) for three days and took two breaks at junction tx and wilcox az. the whole trip averaged close to 24 which I am happy. texas stretch I drove at 80mph and averaged 21.4. I am tech guy / contractor so I go to diff places and my mazda cx7 gives me good company. la to san jose @ 60 mph gv me 28mpg. great car overall.

Purchased in January to drive to Florida. Great mileage on the hgwy & around town. No problems so far. Very comfortable on my bad back even without lumbar support. Handles well & is relatively quiet. Would recommend to others to buy.

  • Excellent Mid Size Crossover - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Gas mileage is about 17. Although I would like it to be better, cant find another veh w/same features that can beat it. Safety features awesome and major reason I purchased this veh. AWD & braking abilities prevented an accident when I was cut off by large semi in a downpour! Great value of features for price. My 3 kids 14, 11, 9 all very comfortable in it and I can put all their sports gear in the back. Nav system is awesome with big screen. Love music system but wish I had gotten Sirius too. Love my car!

  • CX-7 Zooms - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Minimal turbo lag, great handling. Styling and performance sold me. My wife uses this car for her daily drive to work, and this car has all the safety features needed. Only problem was with the service engine light coming on due to the gas cap which Mazda replaced.
