Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • Surprisingly fun family car - 2010 Mazda CX-7

When I bought this car, it was a necessary "downsizing" for me from a GMC Acadia (basically I took what I could get to get my payments more affordable). I didnt expect to like it; it was just something I bought to "get me by." Well, to my surprise, I am now a Mazda customer for life! This car has been very reliable, affordable, and fun to drive. Everything on the interior is clean and easy to use, and I think the exterior has a nice look to it as well. My family is growing so I am now taking advantage of the Mazda loyalty program to get a nice discount on the bigger CX-9. So glad I made this purchase!

  • Never Buy A Mazda CX-7 - 2007 Mazda CX-7

CX7 is a disaster. 1. My CX7s rotors had to be replaced in 12 months despite light footed driving. 2. 18 months into ownership and the engine light came on. The fuel valve had be replaced, and that after numerous arguments with the dealership. 3. The rear window chrome mouldings slid forward preventing opening of the front doors. The dealership replaced one side as a courtesy, but would not replace the other side. Then agreed to trim the other side. Very shoddy work! 4. 2 years in ownership the shift up/down to 3rd gear became jerky with a thud. The dealership refused to fix the issue despite regular servicing. I didnt bother to have it fixed. The car was returned at end of lease.

  • Awesome, Fun and Cool - 2008 Mazda CX-7

I test drove a lot of vehicles, both sedans and SUVs, before I got behind the wheel of the CX-7. Once I drove this, I forgot all about the Rogue, Outlander, CRV and Rav4. I also discovered why they say "Zoom Zoom." I drove a Honda Civic for 10 years, so this was a big upgrade in evey way. The only thing I miss about the Civic is the gas mileage (I am averaging 21- 22 MPG in the CX-7). I went for the Sport FWD model as I did not need AWD, leather or navigation. The bad thing about the Sport model is the crappy stock stereo. I will be upgrading the speakers!

  • Zoom into the future - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I have owned my CX-7 for about a month and I love it. Slow off the line, but once she gets going, she picks up her skirt and "zooms." Handles like a dream and stops on a dime. Fun, sexy and a joy to drive. Only complaint is that it does not have side molding to stop the "parking lot" dings.

  • Performance Value - 2008 Mazda CX-7

You can not find a performance CUV that gives you more equipment for the price. The only car that compares in performance is the Acura RDX, and it costs $10,000 more when equipped the same. Love the look of the leather seats. Navigation system is well placed and is easy to use. The car is very fast when you get the RPMs up. Have had the car 3 months and it is flawless. Fuel economy has been as low as 15 and as high as 21. I have started using 87 octane and it seems to perform "OK". The HID headlights are wonderful and the heated seats are sure nice in the winter. If you want a CUV that handles like it is on rails, this is the vehicle for you.

This pup has exceeded every single possible thing I thought would be a problem , power , mileage , handling and overall reliability - Mazda hit the nail on the head by doing so real r&d on this outstanding ride

  • Love it - 2007 Mazda CX-7

With gas prices the way they are, this is not the car if you plan to complain about the mileage. However, if you like something fun to drive, looks good on the road, and can speed up really quick then this is your car. When the dealer told me it had only a 4 banger I laughed and said I wanted something with more of an engine then I test drove it. It didnt remind me of no 4 banger I had driven before. I like the car a lot and like the performance. It is a fun car to drive. I love opening the roof and the windows. I like many different thing about this car, the most would be the styling I think.

  • Love the Car-Real Value for Money - 2010 Mazda CX-7

We bought it as a second family car after lot of research by me, my wife & kids who have an eye for stylish things. We test drove CRV, Tiguan, RX350, RAV4 and so on. I was driving a CX9 rental for 2months and loved the car but its fuel economy always put me off. One day driving past Mazda dealership, I saw the 2010 CX7 on a pedestal outside the dealership and loved its looks. Went inside and had a look at the interior that was very impressive. Dealer offered a test drive to my house and my wife & kids made an instant decision to buy this. Been using it for 4 months and love every minute of it. Has helped us a lot in hauling everything from lawn mower to formal area furniture - love the space

  • Amazing inside, out and under - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Ive purchased this car 2 weeks ago and I have to say that the more I drive it the more I like it. Mazda was not in my priorities when I was out in the market, this is my first Mazda and I have to say that if this is the kind of products that will keep coming from this company Ill stick with them. The CX-7 has excellent road handling; please note that Ive owned big Alfas and Lancias in Europe for years and I know what I am talking about, the brakes are the best Ive ever driven in a car so far, the built quality much better than the all of the European cars Ive owned and if the reliability proves to be just "Japanese" then there wont be a problem.

  • ***Turbo Nightmare*** - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Every single day I drove my car I have loved it! One day driving home from taking my daughter to school my car starting making a loud clanking noise and smoke came from the back of the car. I took it in for regular maintenance and was told that my turbo was blown and the coolant to the turbo had a leak. I took it to the mazda service department and they told me it was not covered under warranty and I would pay about 4,000-5,000 for new engine/turbo. What a nightmare, now I am paying a car note on a car that is parked in my garage. I cant afford the repairs and I am soon forced to file bankruptcy to have this nightmare end!! *** BEWARE
