The Pathfinder has been completely redesigned for 2005 and now includes third-row seating and a larger, more powerful V6.

Pros:
  • Most powerful V6 in the class, above average off-road ability, well-laid-out interior, flexible seating design, ample storage space throughout.
Cons:
  • Tight rear-seat accommodations, on-road handling not as refined as car-based competitors, some odd interior materials.

  • Great SUV - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Love this new SUV. The fold down rear seat is great. DVD/Audio system is wonderful, lots of bass with the built in sub and you can play dvds through the headphones or car speakers easily.

I went to purchase a Toyota SUV and I stop by Nissan and I just love the look of the Pathfinder. The DVD and Navigation I love and so does my little daughter. It has so much style compared to the Toyota SUVs. I am happy I decided to purchase the Pathfinder LE.

  • Nothing Better In Its Class - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is really a great vehicle. I bought the fully loaded LE with DVD and NAV. In comparison to luxury brands, the value here is tremendous. I also have an 2003 BMW X5, which drives very well. In comparing both, the Pathfinder holds its own. It handles great in snow and off road. I would prefer a stiffer suspension though. The Honda Pilot has more room, but not the off road handling or the looks. The Toyota 4Runner wont offer the sunroof or Limited version if you want the third row. No American car compares well at all. This Pathfinder replaces my 1990 Maxima, which I bought in 1990 - it has over 220,000 miles and is still going strong, so I really endorse the Nissan engineering.

This is my first vehicle I have purchased and Im glad I did. I have had nothing wrong with it. This has the best body style out of all the SUVs out there.

  • Better than my BMW - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

I traded in my 2002 bmw 525 for this new pathfinder. I originally was looking at the murano but a brown one in the showroom caught my eye. there was 4 sets of people looking at it. I bought it an hour later. first of all it has a wonderful 270 hp engine which is very smooth . The nav and dvd entertaiment are very nice for long haul trips. cargo room is very spacious and third row fold flat into the floor. It has nice leather surfaces and my bmw didnt even have leather and i paid more. Ive only owned this car for an hour too! I used to have a 1994 maxima and i put 200,000 miles on it wothout a problem so I trust this car. I have also driven a 4runner and this is ten times better.

  • If I Could Turn Back Time - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

I really enjoyed driving this car, right up until the transmission blew. Our gas gauge hadnt worked in a long, long time. No big deal, I just reset the mile ticker each time I filled up. But what I will NEVER understand is how a 5 year old vehicle we bought NEW at the local dealer could be worthless. We did all the scheduled maintenance, used synthetic oil, treated her well. A 5 yr old car should not need 6,000+ dollars worth of work done. This is a design flaw in the coolant system and we should NOT be on the hook for it. Nissan should be ashamed! This was the only car we had that could haul our 2 small kids and now its junk! I dont have money to fix it, and a new car is not the budget!

  • Great SUV!! - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

I have only had my Pathfinder for 2 weeks now but it has turned out to be a very nice SUV. My wife and I purchased an SE with the comfort and premium packages and we are happy with both. I wanted the BOSE stereo and she wanted the sunroof. We have a 20 months old now and another on the way so we have to get something bigger. The engine pulls very strong and handles well for such a heavy vehicle. We looked at the Honda Pilot and the 4 Runner and we liked the look of the Nissan the best. The Honda did come with more standard saftely features though. Nissan was also ready to deal and we got the vehicle at invoice. I am only getting 16 mpg at the moment though.

  • Is It a Good One? - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Recently, Nissan mailed me a warranty extensions on the radiator, because it might fail and leak coolant. Some 2005 Pathfinder owners have had the radiator fail, causing coolant to leak into the transmission and ruin it. I contacted my Nissan dealerships (2 in my area), and they tell me that there is no fix, and that the radiator has to fail before they can replace it. Really, Nissan?! Well then, Im sorry, but I cannot support an automaker who engages in such practices. Ironically, my Pathfinder has been a great vehicle. So now, Im left wondering if I got a good one, or if its just a ticking time bomb.

  • Pathfinder Forever - 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

I drove a 92 XE pathfinder(5 speed manual) for 13 years, time for a new car with 3 kids. I could not buy a Minivan(not my thing) so a SUV with 3 seats was it. I looked at them all- nothing came close to SE off-Road , it had the best 3rd row seat compared to toyota, volvo and american cars were out of the question. I miss my 92, but once a pathfinder owner I guess, always a pathfinder owner
