Overview & Reviews
Only the LE trim level sees change in 1999, with new body-color fender flares and SE-style alloy wheels, tires and tubular step rails.
- Fresh shape, wonderful interior, good reliability.
- Steep price, engine could be stronger.

1999 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4WD - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By byana - December 9 - 2:00 amThis is my 2nd Pathy - I LOVE EM!!! Best SUV for the money - not too big but not a "sport cute" either. Will pass anything on the road except a gas station - fuel economy is awful. But thats not why you drive this vehicle. The 4WD is stong and generates plenty of torque (even in the high range). OEM tires(BRIDGESTONE)dont last. Really should have 16" wheels from factory with better rubber.

great in head-on - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By ellen black - September 13 - 8:40 pmThis is my second Pathfinder. I was in a head on collision in my first at 45mph with my daughter in the front seat. Both cars were totaled, but we both walked away. I had whiplash, but by daughter was unscratched. Accelerator pedal sticks, doesnt handle well on turns, and the fuel economy is awful, plus there are small rust spots around passanger door windows already, after 60,000 miles. Im still mostly happy with it.

Solid SUV - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By Mattm - July 23 - 10:00 amNice style and reliability. Lacks the engine power and gas mileage is very poor. The truck is good for someone with a short daily commute or longer highway trips. This is not the truck for you if you commute 40+ miles a day. Youll end up spending a ton on gas money. Im trading mine in for a better fuel efficent Nissan.

I love my Nissan - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By snowhound - July 9 - 10:00 amNissan makes a great vehicle for a great price. The Vehicle does well overall in the rocks, dirt, snow, and pavement, as well as a 4 wheel drive can do without a locking differential. The performance is fantastic for its size and cost. The only problem I have had run into is with the airconditioning unit leaking out of an O ring. Factory warranty covered it. Unfortunately SUVs are getting uglier and uglier every year. I will not look forward to upgrading.

Great SUV! - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By hatchergirl86 - June 1 - 1:23 pmLove, love, love this vehicle! Great little SUV! Have owned it for about a year now and never had any real problems. The passenger window has never been able to roll down (power windows) and the switch for the cruise control broke, other than that, no engine problems at all! It is a little small for a family. Only fits 4 people comfortable, 5 is too tight. Four- wheeling is a blast! Overall I recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a fun little car with a small family.

I Love my Pathfinder!! - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By BrianBrianBrian - December 1 - 10:00 amI do alot of out of town and in town driving, still the most comfortable SUV Ive been in! I have the 4 wheel drive Safari Edition, and its probably the best ride Ive ever had in an a 4 wheel drive vehicle, feels like a car! Great for long trips, just enough room for us, handles great in wet weather, and just an over all GREAT vehicle! I wish it got better gas milage, but I think it has to do with the oversized off road tires Ive got on it, but it just looks so good, whod take them off? Id rather sacrafice the gas milage, than the look!

Ill never get rid of it - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By BOB - November 11 - 5:36 amI bought this SUV new in 1999 and after 110,000 miles its still going strong. Replaced the front struts at 60k and the timing belt at 107k. The only problem Ive had is the gas tank door breaking from its hinges. When I buy a new car Ill still keep it. It has given me zero problems.

1999 Nissan Pathfinder SE - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By jd sands - August 15 - 10:00 amThis is a great 4 wheel drive. I owned a 1993 Pathfinder and stepped up to the 1999. The vehicle runs smoothly and the interior is comfortable and convenient. The off road capabilities are exceptional considering that this vehicle drives and rides like a car.

Crashing these - 1999 Nissan Pathfinder
By CrashTestDummy - July 17 - 10:00 amI want to mention the "tippiness" of the SUV. Id noticed this prior, and although I know not to speed around curves and live deep in the country, I hit one a little too fast to swerve for animals- which I ended up doing. The truck smashed into trees on drivers side, swerved too hard, went across the road, rolled over about 2/3 onto the roof, hit a tiny hill, righted itself & smashed the passenger side into a group of small trees. I had my seatbelt on & my child wasnt in the car.ALL THAT HAPPENNED TO ME WERE LARGE PAINFUL RIB BRUISES from the seatbelt. EVERY window was smashed and the passenger roof partially crumpled. You could not open the doors.
