Great SUV - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By THEDOC - September 20 - 6:50 pmI have nothing but great luck with this car....it is built well, runs well and hardly ever breaks down. I have spent very little to keep it running and has never let me down. I have 221000 miles and it still runs great. I will never buy an American car again after owning a Nissan. Built well, runs well, and still looks contemporary.

My first SUV - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By Twash - September 4 - 10:00 amSo far this car has been a great vehicle to own. Small exhust leak, had to replace a pipe coming from engine. $125.00 It seems to be the part of the exhust thatis not stainless steel of rust proof.Great trucf for the winter, FWD is reliable. I did notice that my front bumper (Medal) has begun to rust. I would purchase another.

i love my type II pathy - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By nosrednuG99 - January 14 - 10:00 amI bought my Pathfinder in January of 02 from a dealership that I work for ina subarb of Chicago. When i purchased it, it had 93000 miles on it. i still bought it because it was a Nissan and it would run forever.and it was in extremely good shape.(also it had a grill guard, remote starter, bose htd leather) I love it, its fun to drive, looks great, great offroad capabilities, great ride, and looks more expensive then it is. I goto school in the mountains of Arizona and it takes the trails like any great 4x4 would.

Nissan Pathfinder has faulty clutches. - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By Greg Sippel - July 21 - 10:00 amHaving owned this Pathfinder for the past 4+ years, weve put 4 clutches into it and the dealership insist that driver-error is to blame. This is the far from the truth. Also Pathfinder has a tendancy to rock over 55 mph. Dealer claims the tire wear is to blame. I have difficult time believing their solution.

So far so good. Nice SUV with gas mileage like a car. - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By adspof - May 11 - 7:59 pmJust bought it after selling my 1996 Ford Bronco which I loved but at 11 mpg was beginning to feel the pinch. So thought a stickshift 2 wheel drive Pathfinder would do the same as I dont 4x4 ever really. I like the lite but sturdy feel and I just feel like I am saving gas as I coast everywhere in nuetral 1/2 the time and use the gas the other 1/2 it seems. Only issues have been general maintenance stuff I guess, as never had to deal with on the Bronco. I have already had to to the front struts, carrier bearing at center of driveshaft, right side exhaust manifold (cracked), charcoal cannister, trailing arm bushings to stop "pathfinder death wobble". If paid a shop $2,000 so did on own.

Loved it-buying a new one - 1997 Nissan Pathfinder
By Michael from AR - July 26 - 7:06 pmI loved my Pathfinder and when I sold it a few months ago it was still going strong with over 168,000 miles on it. It went through ditches and it handled great in snow/ice covered roads last winter even though it was only a two wheel drive. It even pulled a 1 ton Dodge truck. Im going to buy a new one here in a few weeks. I would recommend the Pathfinder. It was a great truck!
