This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

Love the Avalon. Fun to drive, very comfortable, and reliable. The car has lots of leg room, front and back.

  • I miss my Regal GS - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I owned a 97 Buick Regal GS with the supercharged V-6 and touring suspension. It was quick and handled great. My new Avalon Touring Model is also quick but doesnt have anywhere near the road hugging ability of the GS. With 157,000 miles on the GS, I really wanted to replace it with a Buick LaCrosse but it was too ugly. The Avalons transmission sometimes seems a little confused, but the dealer tells me the computer will adjust the transmission to my driving style. I dont know if its my imagination, but it seems to have improved. The door over the radio wont open until Ive pressed the button a few times. Odd. I think the interiors beautiful and everyone who rides in the car loves it.

We love our new Avalon! It drives and handles beautifully. It is extremely quiet inside the vehicle and there is plenty of room for my three children in the backseat.

  • Good for summer, bad for winter - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Nice when the weather is warm, but truly awful when the snow is falling. The cars computers cant seem to figure out what to do in snow. Bad traction and very inconclusive driving response. Shame on Toyota! Remote start doesnt allow me get in without turning off car, and it doesnt allow me to get out of car with the engine running and lock the doors. Duh?

The Avalon Limited is the best kept secret Toyota has. It is truly deserving of its flagship position. Lexus quality abounds everywhere except with the medallion.

This car is a joy to own and drive. It is well-appointed both inside and out. My passengers rave about the roomy, comfortable back seat. The only complaint I have about it is that I have a difficult time entering destinations into the navigation system. The buttons are overly sensitive and respond to inputs that I feel that I am not making.

  • Lexus LS at 50% discount - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Previous car was the Lexus LS.I commute 90 miles daily and didnt want to put that many miles on a Lexus. So I got the Avalon and bought a Honda S2000 convertible with the savings. The Avalon is very, very close to Lexus levels of luxury and refinement. No better value anywhere.

  • Large Luxury, Great Value, Good Mileage - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I fell in love with the styling and felt the looks & price made the Avalon a better value than the Lexus. Same classic looks, luxury features, great gas mileage at $15-20k less. Love the car. This car (so far...) is worth every penny.

  • Enjoy the Avalon for the price - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is my first Avalon and I think I bought the best car for the price. It could be quieter at higher speeds. However, between 0 to 70MPH it performs as good as any car. The gas mileage is very good and you dont have to buy premium gasoline. The back seat is roomier than you might expect from a Toyota.

  • my experience - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is my first Toyota, and if it keeps on doing what it is doing now (gas mileage 32.2MPG, fun to drive, comfort, very reliable etc. I will have to say it needs a trim molding on the lower door panels to keep other car doors from denting when it is parked in parking lots.
