Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Engine Oil Problem - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

AC light began flashing and I smelled burning oil. All of the engine oil had drained. I took it to a dealer who informed me that they needed to replace the oil line. This is a defect with this engine that really needs attention. I would not recommend Toyota or purchase another one since the quality is not there. This is the first time in 35 years of owning and driving cars that I have ever had such a problem.

You wont find a better and more equipped car for the money. Good performance, looks, and everything else thrown into one $30k vehicle.

Rides and drives very well. Good turning radius for a big car. Stops on a dime without skidding. Has all the features of the more expensive models in its class.

  • Fun to drive! - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

I love this car! Ive only had it a couple of months, but its SO much fun to drive! I have a bit of a lead foot and this beats everything around off a traffic light. Its great for highway entry and passing. My only complaints are that there isnt a coin holder and there isnt a door protector strip. Otherwise, its a beautiful car. I waited an extra month to get the Indigo Pearl - gorgeous! Everyone comments on the quiet, smooth ride. Id buy it again in a heartbeat.

  • So this is Toyota! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

My first new Toyota and in fact first new car! Never before have I been so divided. On the one side this car is well crafted and has a sweet V6 engine. Interior room is good. Dash is easy to read. Like the auto headlights too. Then on the other hand many annoyances abound. The rear seat doesnt split fold. The rearview mirrors are fixed. No door protection moldings on a 28K car! No bluetooth option. Transmission has been quirky. More road noise than it should have on the open road. Mileage not what advertised. Door insulation held on by cheap plastic and it falls off on occasion. Trunk is tiny! And the back seats are more comfy than the front ones on long trips which is really weird.

  • Expensive Repairs - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

I bought my Avalon two years ago. On the whole, I do like it, but I am not impressed with little things that break, or more to the point, my dealerships response to it. Ever since I bought it, the lever that controls the steering column keeps slipping out of place and steering wheel gives way. Just now, after two years of ownership, the lock assembly on the trunk broke. Because my warranty is on 3/36, I have to pay $450 to have a lock fixed. If Toyota quality is so great, why doesnt the company stand behind its product with a more substantial warranty? Also, why should such a small problem cost so much to fix. A two year old car should not be having these problems. I am not impressed.

  • Best Car ever in the last 12 years - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This car can easily beat many of the luxury cars in style, performance, comfort and features. I bought it used and will be driving it until many years to come. The only drawback I find is that it doesnt have iPod Jack which Im going to have installed. Every time I drive the car, I appreciate it even more then last time. Fuel economy is unbelievable, it gives me 30+ on the highways. Im a car lover and even though its not really a drivers car but Im willing to compensate only that part with everything else in the car. The rear seat room is like a limousine and it even reclines. I am never worried about the repair costs, its like driving a German car with no maintenance

  • New Avalon is Outstanding! - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

The new Avalon is outstanding! Its our 2nd in a row, third Toyota & its over the top! It rides like butter on a hot roll. The new look is so elegant, new safety feature in brakes just adds to it being a car we have always felt extremely safe in. It is roomier inside, back seats recline, the dash is all push button, hidden controls & the new colors are beautiful with the leather seats. It has awesome acceleration & smoothest ride. Our last Avalon of 6 yrs was still like brand new, other than basic maintenance, oil changes, new battery & tires, we never had it in the shop. Toyotas are outstanding cars, & get great gas milage. Well always have an Avalon, we come from an all Toyota family.

  • Love It! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I commute 100 miles every day and really enjoyed my first year in my Avalon Limited. Only slow driving cell phone talking left laners interfere with my total enjoyment!

  • Pearl - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This car is way different from my 2000 Avalon (which looked like a grandpa car). The 2005/06 is hot looking and had the power to match almost any car on the road. The torque is huge for a 6-cylinder and the mileage is great for a 268 hp engine. The only problem is getting used to the computerized controls (braking and accelerator). The computer programming causes annoying shifting and some delays in reaction times.
