For 2009, the Toyota Avalon gets a few more standard safety features, as stability control and active (whiplash-reducing) headrests come on board. In other news, the Touring trim level is dropped and the audio systems are now satellite-radio-ready.

- Expensive for its class, refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

DRONE Noise - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By piercy42 - October 10 - 10:02 amMy 2009 Avalon XLS have an annoying DRONE from the rear. The dealer tells me it is the tires. Im on my 3rd set (replaced because of the problem, they were not worn out). Problem cotinues and seems to be getting worse. Rotating tires also does not help. It is very annoying. Also have a friend with 2009 Avalon and he has the same problem. This is my 2nd Avalon. The 1st, a 2002 was a great car.

Plenty of Room in the Back - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By outskiing - November 5 - 2:06 amWeve had our Avalon for three months. We bought is as a family car and needed room for growing teenagers. Im 6"3 and can easily fit in the back. Its like riding in a limo and to us is a Lexus in all but name...who needs the big "L" on the front anyway? If you dont mind an understated car thats big on comfort and interstate composure, try out an Avalon.

I use to buy nothing but Lincolns and switched over to Avalon in 2004, this was the best vehicle i have ever driven in the 40 so what years of driving. For some reason the 04 overpowered all the vehicles i have driven. I try to trade every three years to keep my cost value up. I have been driving my 09 now for for 19 months now and love it. I m getting anxious to see what the next new model year design is like and if i like it ill be trading in a flash! Keep up the good work Toyota!

Love My Avalon - 2009 Toyota Avalon

My husband and I were so impressed with how well the inside cabin kept us safe, that we had to buy another one. I purchased the Limited model last month and I am loving this car and all of the perks that come along with it! This model rides even smoother than my first one and can fit the entire family with ease. I recommend the Avalon to anyone looking for a comfortable ride at a great price.

By Derek - February 4 - 11:30 amSeats are too hard, gps is a rip off, people. How Dare you Toyota can continue 2003 made gps installing in 08, 09, 10 models. We paid for what? Crap. You should update it if you charge people $2,000 for it. I really like that car but for sure its overpriced. No question about it.

After driving around town and on an extended trip I have to say that the Avalon is probably the smoothest driving car I have ever driven. For the size comfort and ride I am very happy. This is a great car for long trip freeway driving.

A GREAT CAR - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By LEONIDIS - January 4 - 7:30 pmI have driven Avalons since 1996. I have owned the 1997, 2001,2003,2005,2006, and now the 2009. This is by far the best Avalon of the bunch. It is the most refined, the best handling, and the most comfortable. My car is loaded with everything, but the remote starter. I noticed that handling on back, winding country roads is much improved over my 2006, and I have more road feel. I happen to be a car nut, and an Older Gentleman, and this vehicle fills all of my current automotive desires. Of course, I do not expect it to be a racing machine, and know what to expect, since I have driven Porches, Maseratis, and Citroens. Bottom Line, this is the best Avalon yet.

Steering Wheel always unlocking! - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By Mimi - May 26 - 10:00 amWhat a great disappointment with my 2009 Toyota Avalon limited. This is my first and last Toyota. Had the mat / sticking pedal situation be disclosed earlier when known, I would NEVER have gotten this car. My steering wheel unlocks a couple of times a week. Brought into service center and they couldnt find anything wrong! Driving along and steering wheel just drops!! Tried to get rid of car but no one wants it!! I thought Toyota held his value but with all the problems lately, its a 50% sale for trade-ins! Going to get rid of it as soon as I can!

Just got it and love it - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By Bennett - December 19 - 9:16 pmRecently purchase XL model without any extras. Doesnt matter as it came with everything and more than I needed. I really like the clean center console. With the audio controls on the steering wheel I leave all the compartments closed for a clean sleek uncluttered look. We took our first trip with our new Avalon and averaged over 32 mpg at 75 mph. Just came out of a F150 so I really appreciate the gas mileage. Also, recently had 5 adults in the car. My back seat passengers were amazed by the leg room. I also like the seats. They are not the sporty type with built up sides that you find in most cars today. Basically this is a Japanese Sedan DeVille.....

Lurches forward - 2009 Toyota Avalon
By judy hooper - October 5 - 7:50 pmWould love 2009 Avalon except for one major problem. At unexpected times after I brake the car begins to move forward. This has happened to 3 different drivers. I cannot stop this forward movement. It caused me to rear end another car at a band drive through. Toyota dealers will not acknowledge problem since they cannot duplicate problem. Car has 3000 miles on it and I am afraid to drive it. I have been told that I am the first person to report this in the U.S. I feel robbed. This is going to happen again.
