Overview & Reviews
A few minor changes are in store for Toyota's large sedan. On the outside, you'll find freshened styling that consists of a new grille, new taillamps and redesigned bumpers. Inside, the 2003 Avalon has been upgraded with dual-stage airbags and ISO-FIX child safety seat anchor points. XLS models also have more features this year, including an autodimming driver-side mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a simulated wood-trimmed steering wheel and an optional navigation system.
- Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.
- High price tag, bland personality.

Im hooked and for good reason!!!!!! - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By Linda Sullivan - December 22 - 10:00 amI must say that after driving a lincoln for many years. I am loving the ride and style of my Avalon and it compares to the lincoln quality in every way and the price could not be any better.I would recommend this car to every one I know and even those I do not.My friends are shocked at all the interior room of the Avalon and the smooth and quiet ride it has. So much so that two of them are going to purchase one for themselves.

Lincoln Man tries Toyota Avalon - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By kjemiso - December 4 - 10:00 amRoomy enough for easy access for the handicap w/the bench seat and to accomodate a large walker or wheelchair. Only the 1990 Lincolns could do the same. Better buy. Taking it in; doesnt shift to low; door closes hard and just doesnt cool like the American makes. Like my Casis Pearl color; very attractive...

Great Comfort and Power - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By GoVols - October 16 - 10:00 amThis car has great acceleration speed and provides superb comfort. I considered the Camry; however, the comfort level of the Avalon is leaps and bounds above it. There is an abundance of leg room in the rear passenger seats. Good handling ability. Large trunk. Fuel mileage in city driving rarely exceeds 21 mpg.

03 Avalon XLS - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By RCH - September 27 - 10:00 amAfter 3 Maxima SEs, we decided to go with a little more comfort & luxury, and have not been disappointed. Very smooth and comfortable transportation. A great highway cruiser with pretty good gas mileage (28+ w/only 1,500 miles). It handles the beat up Chicago-area roads very well.

Luxury XLS - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By kdsmom - September 4 - 10:00 amThe Avalon has been an excellent car although I have had it only 1 month. I am teaching my daughter to drive in it. She thinks it is great to drive. It is very smooth and easy to handle. My last vehicle was an SUV so this is a luxurious upgrade!

My second AVALON - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By c6owner - June 5 - 7:46 pmThis is my second Avalon. The only thing that stopped my first was Pontiac at midships. I had 165,000 miles with nothing going wrong. I didnt even need brakes until 130,000 miles. I bought the second and am having the same luck. It is more powerfull but has 28 MPG average Vs 30 on the 1996 version. Passengers still comment on interior room and comfort after now 60,000 miles. I drive for work, and go through a lot of cars. These two have outperfomed and have been more reliable than anything else I have had. If I can stay out of the way of other cars, this one will probably go to 300K miles.

Competition? What Competition... - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By travelerjb - May 4 - 10:00 amThis one Id truly classify as a "luxury car". In every way it meets that criteria. Sure, its NO sports sedan in the flavor of a BMW or Jaguar, but then its not even close to those price ranges as well. If you want space, this car delivers in spades. All in all with the comfort level both in the seats and on the road it delivers. The engine has plenty of passing power, yet rarely lets you know its there. The utter quiet is a welcome pleasure, especially on the brutal roads of the Midwest. I wasnt as intrigued with the Avalon until I drove a XLS loaded. I guess I like having it all, and indeed this car delivers.

A Lexus in Toyota Clothing - 2003 Toyota Avalon
By chas - March 28 - 2:00 amA limited budget kept me from buying another LS 400, so I swallowed my pride and looked at the Avalon. The moment I started it up, I knew it was something special. After driving it, I pronounced it "a Lexus masquerading as a Toyota". I decided on the fully loaded XLS. It differs very little from the Lexuses in quality and overall driving experience.
