This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

This is our second Toyota product purchased in the last 2 years, first one 2004 Highlander. I am continually impressed with the build quality and value of Toyota products. The Avalons ride is incredibly quite and stable. Great value for the money

When we were looking to buy we were leaning to the Buick Lucerne my wife wanted the Avalon which we purchased the ride is very stable and engine noise very quiet compared to the Lucerne,we made a 2000 mile trip driving at 65 mph and got 37.3 mpg on the trip we have not driven a trip at 75 yet so I can`t give you a mpg at that speed but I`m impressed with the handling and overall quality and design of the 2006 Avalon excellent auto

  • Loved this car UNTIL... LOST ALL OIL! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I loved my Avalon, but now have lost all confidence in its reliability. On an out of state trip an oil hose developed a pin-hole leak. There was no indicator or light alert. We still have not gotten all repairs done, but will cost min $2500!!! (of course out of warranty with approx 101,000 miles).

Love my Avalon. Had a Camry and always wanted an Avalon but didnt like the style of the previous model. The design on this car is impressive and gets a lot of nods.

This Avalon (Limited) for 06 in no longer the "poor mans Lexus" . Its my preference over Lexus AND Acura RL, both of which are waaaaay overpriced in my opinion. Quick on the trigger, and smooth in the saddle!

My first Toyota but Ive had numerous Japanese sedans. What separates the Avalon from other Asian performance sedans is that it has 268-280 hp yet takes regular gas and frequently gets more than 20 mpg. That alone is worth considering this car. Numerous reviews commented on what a good car this is but its not "athletic." Ive found the contrary with the Touring edition. The suspension is ideal and is mated nicely with the power of the vehicle. It feels very non-American because there is absolutely no bounce, no matter what kind of surface Im driving on. Ironic since this is a large luxury sedan that was designed and built in U.S. Make a stick shift option and a less Camry-like exterior.

We just bought the Avalon XLS. I LOVE it. Our boys are over 6ft tall and they have so much legroom in the back seat its amazing. The ride is smooth. I highly recommend this car.

Recently, I purchased a 2006 Toyota Avalon. I had owned a Mercedes for almost 10 years. This car is absolutely fabulous to drive. It is quiet and has a lot of power. The interior is classy and outside desing is gorgeous.I love my new Avalon.

I have never been more pleased with a car. The ride is excellent with reasonable handling. The performance is tremendous with good mileage to boot. This thing is very, very quiet. The stereo is among the best Ive heard in a car; unless you want to rattle windows, this unit is of excellent quality. The seats are tremendous, second only to the LS430. I looked at a certified LS, but the Avalon compares well with it and even has slightly more room in some areas. I would say that the LS430 seats are more comfortable, but only by a little. All in all, an excellent choice for commuting or just for comfortable driving.
