Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

  • My first Mazda - 2009 Mazda CX-7

Picked up my Grand Touring CX7 three weeks ago. Drives great, performance is very good. The interior could use upgrade, the door panels look cheap. Overall the CX7 is worth the money and is fun to drive.

  • CX-7 a flop - 2007 Mazda CX-7

The cx-7 is the worst front wheel drive vehicle I have ever owned. The standard equipment Turanza tires had to be replaced at first snowfall! It oversteers terribly and the check engine light has a mind of its own(No its not the gas cap, either)! Would not suggest to anyone living North of the Mason-Dixon!

  • Buyer Beware of New Model Year - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I have owned my cx-7 for about 7 months (it only has a little over 2000 miles). I have had to take it back to the dealer for warranty repairs 3 times already. The "Check Engine" light keeps coming on. If you search the problem on the internet, you will find that many other people are having the same problem with this car. I am beginning to wish I had my reliable Toyota back!

  • Nice vehicle, few issues - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This vehicle has nice sporty performance, SUV or not. Good acceleration despite "turbo lag," which can be obnoxious. Quality interior, though somewhat bland appearance. Bose sound system very nice. Decent gas mileage, but premium fuel requirement is expensive - should have used V-6 which probably would have given same MPG with no premium fuel requirement. Braking is excellent. Ride is quite stiff. I needed to replace all four tires at just 18,000 miles. No other maintenance issues. Overall I am happy with this vehicle, but it could use a few modifications/upgrades.

  • Fun Car...Needs V6 - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Ive had this car for about a month, a typical Mazda automobile, fun to drive, excellent handling, breaking, and interior design. I would recommend this car to anyone, however its major drawback is the fact its a Turbo instead of a V6...for some reason Mazda is obsessed with them and it requires PREMIUM GAS!

  • Zoom Zoom, Indeed - 2007 Mazda CX-7

I love my car!! I almost wish my commute to work was longer because its so fun to drive. I love the fact that their arent too many others like mine on the road. Mazda does an awesome job - Ive owned both a 323 hatchback (which I drove for 12 years with no problems) and a Tribute, and know that my next car will also be a Mazda.

  • Awsome - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This car is great. I have had it over two years. If you want great gas mileage get a car not a suv (especially one with a turbo). I get about 23 mph hwy. Never had a problem. The tires are poor but its just that brand. I have two young boys and interior has held up wonderfully.

  • DONT Buy it !!! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I traded a 2004 Mercedes C230 for the CX-7 because of all the hype about it and I wanted an SUV. Well what a mistake this was!! After 2000 miles the engine just didnt sound right and the check engine light kept coming on. When I took it to the dealer it was a week before they could even get to it!! Definitely not customer service oriented like luxury dealers are. Overall I was very disappointed in Mazda. Will never purchase another one again. I kept it for 4 months and then turned it in.

  • Fun To Drive - 2010 Mazda CX-7
    By -

I spent 2 months shopping for a SUV. I narrowed it down to the Nissan Rouge, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Kia Sorento. The Mazda was my favorite for handling, reliability, and looks. Its sassy and provides power to ease in and out of Atlanta traffic. The CX- 7 has sleek lines and doesnt have that boxey SUV look (like the Sorento and Santa Fe). The cargo area is large enough to accommodate my 2 sheepdogs. Ive owned a couple of American made SUVs and Mazda blows their doors off.

  • Move over BMW, Lexus and Infinity. - 2010 Mazda CX-7
    By -

Traded an 09 Santa Fe: ran well but unexciting & subpar fit & finish (another review). Improvements on the 10 CX-7 GT are significant, and and are the reason we purchased. And hopefully Mazdas addressed all issues (A/C compressor, turbo, ride, quietness, MPG etc.). I find this car a lot of fun to drive, and the new interior is very nice. Think youd have to buy BMW, Infinity or Lexus to meet or beat this thing. Got the Red on light leather and it looks fantastic. Some turbo lag, but you have to drive it right. Finese it, and once its rolling, it flies. It does have road noise on rough roads, but worth the trade-off for great handling. Hopefully its reliable cause Im Im lovin it.
