Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Fun, Runs Rough at 70mph? - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Chris - October 28 - 6:23 pmWile looking for a new small SUV for my wife, we drove FX35, Pilot, MDX, RX330, 4 Runner, Highlander, Explorer, Murano, etc. Price and options drove us to the CX-7. I was sold on the FX35, but wife was unwilling to spend the additional $10k. While we like the car, the turbo lag is a killer. Im hesitant to pull out into traffic because it is so unpredictable. Also, I sense the engine runs slightly rough at highway speeds (70mph or around 2000rpm). I had it in once and they claim to have replaced the ignition coil. It also has a rattle they cannot find which sounds like the rear wiper is falling off at 60+mph. Not happy with the solutions so far, might trade it if they cant fix it.

We Traded it in! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By philpiv - October 26 - 1:13 amWe Traded in our 2007 Madza CX7 GT AWD with 9500 miles on it today. We were sick of the premium gas and the absolutely horrid gas mileage 10-13 mpg around town. We brought it to the dealer 3 times to check the mileage problems and they claimed there was no problem. The car was fun to drive but made us sick when filling up.

CX7 review from prev. Tribeca owner - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Cruisin Guy - October 8 - 6:10 amIve had the CX-7 for a little over 4 mths and really enjoy driving this vehicle. It drives more like a car than a truck. I previously owned a Subaru B-9 Tribeca 06. I love the CX7 styling, leather interior, heated seats, Nav etc. The CX7 handles better than the Tribeca, i.e., more fun to drive. The CX7 has a nicer looking Nav system but a trip computer/mpg readout should be integrated in for future models. MPG is better with CX7 by about 2mpg ie. about 17 w/ CX7 compared to 15 w/tribeca overall observed.

First SUV last Mazda!!! - 2009 Mazda CX-7
By Siddiqui - August 12 - 11:33 amGreat combination of sport and utility. Hate to say interior looks nice but cheap quality material, winds noise and side mirror vibrates when drive more than 60 mph, found alot of blind spots. Back lights each set for 569.00 plus tax!!. Too much rounds to gas station after buying it. Purchased my 09 CX-7 AWD Sport (w/Leather)in July for USD 23000 OTD (out the door) and showed to my cousin and next month he bought 2010 (no leather) but with more nicer interior and options for 21,000 OTD same dealer, which makes me little sad. Fun to drive but be ready to get TICKET!!.

By tony2am - August 5 - 6:45 amThe car (black) looks really sharp when it is cleaned up! Here (remember 82K and I have not treated this car well "maintainance wise" AT ALL. If you own one, follow my reasoning below I will give you the low down. Bought my 2007 Sport with maybe 12K on it in Ohio and currently it has 82K.

Horrible GAS MILEAGE - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By George - July 23 - 2:56 amBuy this car only if you do not care about gas mileage. It is a gas hog! I get just 17 MPG with 50% highway driving. The service manager says this is common for the CX7! Combined with the small gas tank and high cost of premium gas, you can look forward to many pricey stops at you gas station when you buy a CX7.

Drove my car from batonrouge la to los angeles ca close to 1800 miles and didnt feel a bit tired... drove (9-10 hrs) for three days and took two breaks at junction tx and wilcox az. the whole trip averaged close to 24 which I am happy. texas stretch I drove at 80mph and averaged 21.4. I am tech guy / contractor so I go to diff places and my mazda cx7 gives me good company. la to san jose @ 60 mph gv me 28mpg. great car overall.

What Lines - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Tucker - July 1 - 11:26 pmStunning exterior lines accent this perfect sized SUV. Solid footing allows you throw this platform into a switch-back with a peace of mind. The lows, much too noisy cabin, turbo lag, and eats tires every 20K.

It will be one year.... - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Marlo - June 13 - 11:33 pmin a few weeks since I bought the 08 CX7. It has 18k miles, and I havent had any problems with the vehicle. I brought the Sport but it came with some options (nav, Bose system, moon roof, Sirius, remote start). The CX7 is the perfect size for me. Overall, I enjoy the CX7.
