Overview & Reviews
A performance R/T model is onboard for 2000. Intrepids get five new colors, new seat fabric in Base models, and added horsepower and torque to ES models powered by the 2.7-liter V6. AutoStick is available with that engine, and ES buyers can order an in-dash CD changer. Tether-ready child-seat anchors have been added behind the rear seat, and cars sold in California meet LEV standards.
- Huge interior, gigantic trunk, available 3.2-liter V6 engine on the ES model, good looks.
- Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, invisible corners make parking a chore.

Great car ! But? - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By concerned8 - May 11 - 11:17 pmHi, me and my husband bought this car in 2005. It was a used vehicle the car runs great we love it! But we have experienced a few problems. The starter has been replaced also the battery and now Im being told that the bushing need to be fixed on passenger side. I dont know. A lot of reviews say they only changed tire and brakes and thats it. So I am a little concerned, if I am getting ripped off or the maintenance is really needed. Please if you have any advice let me no or if you have similar car would appreciate your feedback ad opinion of my repairs.

147,000 - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By 147,000 Miles - May 9 - 2:16 pmI bought my car with 20,000 miles on it. Love the style of the car. In the past year I had a sales job and put 27,000 miles on it in one year. Currently Im at 147,000. This has been the BEST car that I have ever owned. The only thing that I have had to do is regular maintenance. I have run amsoil in the engine and transmission since probably 40,000 miles. Recently I had to have the water pump replaced and that was a very expensive fix since the front of the engine has to be removed. (2.7 engine) When the engine was apart the mechanic said that it was very clean inside, No sludge! I also had to have my inner tie rod bushing replaced. (pothole)

Beware - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By shelly - March 24 - 11:10 pmI was seduced by this car. It is beautiful. However, I have had one problem after another. I still owe 4k on it and am having to trade it in. Engine is going on it and it only has 85000 miles on it. Was told the engine will lock up eventually. I am so ticked off...DONT BUY ONE!

Last of a Great Breed - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By LoneRanger - March 14 - 3:34 pmTraded in a 1995 for the 2000 ES and what a great choice. Now have over 180,000 miles and have only had to replace the water pump at 110,000. Great roominess, comfort and style. Super MPG for a large car always above 22 and up to 28 on trips. Cant understand why its being discontinued, the 3.2 engine runs great with enough power and durability. Door seals shrunk but that is common, 1 window motor gave out, but everything else has been iron clad. Dodge wake up! The Intrepid was your best car...so aerodynamic and stylish...Im looking for another if I can get one I will grab it!

Dodge Interepid-2000 - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By L. Gebo - February 6 - 10:00 amI have enjoyed my 2000 Intrepid. The problem I have had with it thus far includes the front bumper hitting high driveways which has caused paint damage. Paint defects in other areas as well. This takes away from the quality, look and appeal of the vehicle. I wish I would have been informed of this problem at the dealership. The trunk leaks as well. I am not sure if this is a manufacturers problem or something happened to it in transport.

Overall Great Car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Johnny - January 14 - 10:14 pmThe 2000 Dodge Intrepid is one of the finest affordable cars Dodge has ever made. The 200 horses in the 2.7 litre V6 is fun to play around with. This car has great handling. I have accidentally burned out at red lights before. It has a surprisingly light body for its full sized design. I have had only one electrical issue with my Intrepid, but other than that I think it is worth it.

Life with my 2000 Intrepid - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Leahcim - November 27 - 2:10 pmMy intrepid has 125000 miles and has been for the most part a reliable car. It still rides great and is the most comfortable car i have owned. Problems that I have had include the following. Both of the electric window motors went up at about 32000 miles which were covered under warranty. The rack and pinion went up in the car at 58000 miles $1200 to fix. The rubber door seals have shrunk so that they do not fit around the doors. The interior plastic trim around the doors has cracked and fallen apart.

Best Car Ive Ever Owned - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By Harvey - September 28 - 4:58 pmI now have just over 240,000 miles on this car. It has the original engine and transmission. I just had a valve job done on the car about 4,000 miles ago for $750. No repairs to the transmission other than standard maintenance. The interior is slightly faded from the desert sun, but still in almost perfect shape the dash isnt cracked and the upholstery is completely intact. I havent even had to change the struts yet. Every day I drive this car the durability and reliability of it continue to amaze me. I believe this car will go over 300,000 miles or more. This is the best car Ive ever owned. Dodge really, really, really needs to bring this car back!

I love this car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
By HappyOwner - August 30 - 11:42 pmI have been so happy with this car! Ive had absolutely no problems with it, I love the looks of it, and it has zip and great handling. The car has close to 140K miles and so far (knock wood) I havent had to do anything special except change the oil every 3000 miles and fix the brakes once. I think it was really stupid of Dodge to stop making this model, but given that they have I hope to keep my car forever!
