This Year's Model Updates:

A performance R/T model is onboard for 2000. Intrepids get five new colors, new seat fabric in Base models, and added horsepower and torque to ES models powered by the 2.7-liter V6. AutoStick is available with that engine, and ES buyers can order an in-dash CD changer. Tether-ready child-seat anchors have been added behind the rear seat, and cars sold in California meet LEV standards.

Pros:
  • Huge interior, gigantic trunk, available 3.2-liter V6 engine on the ES model, good looks.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, invisible corners make parking a chore.

  • 91000 miles no problem - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

20+ mpg. Mobil 1 oil change about every 5000 miles. Replaced tires and brakes. Same antifreeze, still clean. Same battery. All weather striping still good. The exhaust system still good. The car is still tight including the sunroof. My wife loves this car. Have never kept a car this long. Still looks and drives like new. The key is to keep it clean and gararge kept. It does now use about 1/2 quart of oil by time to change oil. None needs to be added.

  • Cant wait to get rid of (leased) - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

(Bought new) Had locks on 2 doors replace, made a loud noise when operating. Low front end scrapes inclines/declines. Had thermostate replaced dealer said soon to overheat. Heat/AC vents just fell off of two - had replaced. Gears skip when pressing gas pedal in stop and go traffic. Does not hold value. Small back seat for legs. Trunk to high.

I love this car. Im a mom with two kids. I can still take two other adults with me easily and at times I have fit six people. I can easily fit three carseats across the back and not feel crowded. I can feel young, even on the way to story time or kindergarten. Ive taken my beloved across country and she handles beautifully! Acceleration is instant and I can pass anyone. I love how I feel driving her too. I have a lot of pain, but I can drive long hours in this car and not die later. My old Saturn couldnt do that for me.

  • Spacious but unreliable - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

Love the space and comfort of the Intrepid - hate the reliability. We had to completely replace the engine after less than 80K miles, were told it was sludge build up from poor maintenance although we run synthetic Amsoil and perform routine maintenance. Door locks jam trapping you in and out of the car without a keyless entry - told the rods are corroded and it is common, similar to the engine failure issues.

  • We all make mistakes... - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

Bought this car used in July of 05 with 90,000 miles. Looked sharp, interior was good. Engine was a disaster. Oil pressure sending unit was bad, engine burned oil (1 qt. every 1000 miles), had to do extensive engine work 3 months later, and now a valve has blown, throwing off timing and other things. No longer driveable getting a salvage/rebuilt engine for these cars is difficult to the apparent very high demand for replacement engines. Expensive, too. It looks pretty, but I can get lawn ornaments for much cheaper somewhere else. It died at almost 116000, but from what I hear, thats pretty long-lived for an Intrepid.

  • My used Intrepid - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

I needed a larger auto as my kids were getting too big for the back seat of Prizm. The Intrepid has fantastic legroom, drives well, is comfortable for trips and gets very good mileage (a real need) for a large car. I have had NO mechanical trouble, perform maintenance myself and have been pleased with the car. I do not regret purchasing this auto at all.

  • a poor excuse for a 2000 model car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

This car has been a lemon from the start. Started out being a check engine light that they could not find the problem for. Finally taken to another service dept in another county only to find out that there was sludge in the engine. Considering that I had the oil changed app every 2-3 I was pissed. I feel that chrysler really messed up this time. i wont ever purchase another one.

First of all POOR service by local dealers. The car has had numerous small problems. Wheel bearings, cog&chain in the tranny, power window closers, electrical harness, third brake light and the car still has a shake in the front end at highway speeds with a rumble noise. All tires and balance have been chaged and rechecked several times. Dealer says they know its there dont know how to fix it. Oh what a feeling!!!! I think a Toyota is in the future.

  • Excellent Car - 2000 Dodge Intrepid

I purchased this car as my first vehicle and I absalutly love it. It has been very, very reliable and have not had any problems with it. I have owned the car for a little more than a year and it has been treating me very well. My Dodge has almost 100,000 miles and it runs like brand new. It has never leaked ANYTHING since I have had it. The gas mileage is not as bad as I thought considering that it is a big car. The turning radius is excellent and the confort if great. Its an awsome family sedan and I could not think of anything bad to say about it. The interior and interior design was well thought up and I am very satisified with my car. If they still made them I would by another.

  • This car is awesome! - 2000 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

I love this car! I got all the upgrades, remote starter, spoiler, custom air intake, custom exhaust, tinted windows. This aint your mamas Intrepid, (Even though I am a mom )I wouldnt be selling it if it had a 3rd row of seating! It is so much fun to drive, 3 kids in the back seat and plenty of room for me and daddy in the front. Only complaint is the 60 lb puppy under my feet! Thinking of buying? Get the upgrades, 3.5 ltr v-6 with auto stick and stick some pipes on it. If your kids wont talk back to you this car will. It will just take what you dish out and keep on giving it back to you. My only regret, that I didnt get the car when I was younger. Man, I could have had some fun!! It is a great car. You wont be disappointed. I never was! It will be a sad day when mine goes!
