This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Sporty Looking Reliable Car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This is a really good car to drive back and forth to work. It looks really good, but does not have the power to support the sporty looks. It drives nice, but the engine could use some more torque. Gas mileage is good. Reliability is good after the first six months

Is it fun to drive? No, but it will get you where you want to go without any problems. I drive a long way and this car is comfortable, fairly quiet, economical, and solid as a rock. The interior features quality materials and great ergonomics.

Great ride...fun to drive!!! Power is acceptable. Plenty of room inside, especially great headroom.

  • 2005-2006 XRS is good to have one - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I had my 1986 Corolla GTS before and now I have chance to own a XRS. Though Corolla is an entry level of Toyota but still surprises me after many years! After 9 months driving, I am really satisfied with it. As a used car, the price go down a lot to a reasonable amount. However, the cornering still need to be improved by upgrading aftermarket parts. The original tuned suspension is unable to handle this car anymore which I feel too soft. 0-60 mph only 7.2 sec with top speed 130 mph (Lock by limiter) and 28 mpg with mixing freeway and local (I live in SF Bay area) If you plan to buy Scion tC, I would recommend you to have this one instead if you dont mind have a used car.

I have owned somewhere around 100 cars in my life and this Corolla is on the top for reliability and gas milage. I got the Sport or S model loaded to the gills and still had money left over. It is the end of the 2005 line but I saved a bundle. I drive 100 miles a day for work and so far this little car is comfortable, economical, and a pleasure to drive. I am also 61" 230Lbs. and fir in the car with ease. I would only say it would be nice to have a telescoping steering wheel and I wish I had gotten the highest upgraded stereo. I would also like to see a one touch open for the sunroof like the power windows. All in all, it is early but I am very impressed with this great little car!

This is my 2nd Corolla. Have had my 2005 for almost a year now & with 19,000 miles...no problems. 2005 Corolla has more hp than Civic EX & is a much more comfortable ride. Saturn Ion, Ford Focus...I think not! Toyota quality is the only way to go!

A very fun and gas-efficient easy to maneuver and most attractive car that can also accomodate a family with lots of trunk space and ability to transport when needed larger longer items in the trunk by taking the backseat down! This has become very handy with a small business and a trip to the local home store!!! I have gotten many comments on how attractive this 2005 model is from friends and family!

Got this car July 19 04 Had pretty good experiance at this dealer, but than I was "ready" to buy one.... the car is just fine, I was real suprised when I did my first wash and wax that there were no sharp edges any where on this car... I usually own SUVs, and have an old Caravan yet still around, but somehow I was able to get aclimated to the lower driveing with no big problems. I didnt get the ABS or side air bags, just the usual stuff as I dont plan on keeping one for more than 3 years anymore...... man is this thing "red" :)

  • Goodbye Detroit - 2005 Toyota Corolla

After driving detroit iron for 27 years I decided that I had had enough. The superior crash test ratings, quality ratings and reliability compared to american manufactures offerings convinced me to purchase this vehicle. The price and the quality are far superior. The car feels smooth around corners and over the nasty railroad tracks on the drive to work. I parked this next to a 1999 Camry and they are actually about the same size. It seems more like a midsize car with a compact price. You wont be cheated on interior room or trunk space. I had to pick up an order for some computer equipment for work and couldnt believe that it all fit in the trunk.

  • Terrible in the snow - 2005 Toyota Corolla

In nice weather the Corolla is overall a fine car to drive, great gas mileage, average comfort, etc. the steering wheel is a little too far of a reach. I was enjoying the Corolla until I had to drive it in the snow. We were thinking of giving it to our son but I am trading it in, I wouldnt sell it to anyone I know because of how poorly it handles in bad weather.
