This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

Very comparable to older Camrys Ive owned. A real big reliable small car that provides excellent basic transportation.

I bought our 05 CE certified used as a second commuter vehicle...during high gas prices. The gas mileage, build quality, and appearance are all excellent. Top mileage in gentle conditions (mostly highway, around 60 mph) we get 36 mpg. Average close to 400 miles per tank. I like the simple dash layout and open feel of the cabin. I am less happy with the ride quality. Pronounced road noise and jittery ride at highway speeds. On the highway it also feels light and gets pushed around my passing trucks or high winds. Know this is because it has a smaller wheel base and light frame for gas mileage. Considering trading up to Camry or Lexus. Need a better ride as a is suffer vertigo.

I was a Honda fan for the last 10 years, this is my first Toyota and I am excited with the performance in this car The XRS attracted me from the very first time that I saw on TV, especially the new DOHC engine with 170 hp, Honda never offered nothing like this and with any of the cars that I had, the closest one now is Honda the civic Si, which I already made him eat my dust, when I recently encountered one here on the highway. What else can I say!!!

  • Fantastic! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I wasnt looking for anything flashy - just a reliable, efficient, decent- looking car. Ive always been pleased with Toyotas, but this one is by far the best Ive owned. Ive driven my Corolla from Texas to Manitoba to New York and loved every mile of it. No mechanical problems whatsoever. My gas mileage has averaged 33-36 city any 39- 42 highway. (I even got 46 mpg from one tank - highway driving across Kansas.) This car gives a really smooth ride and is a good value for the price. The heat and A/C really crank. I spent summer in TX & winter in NY and was always comfortable. Several friends of mine laughed at me for buying a Toyota until they rode in it and wished they had one of their own.

Wow, Toyota nailed it with this model. I own a 2005 Corolla Sports sedan with 112k now that I bought with 90k in March of 2014. Its really reliable, the gas mileage is great, the stock sound system they have is good also. Gives you close to 35mpg when youre driving on the highway, I like the fact that anything mechanically is easy to fix and cheap as well. Personally I have no issues with this car, mine came with the moonroof which was another pro for this car. The couple of things I wish it had was a aux slot, and steering wheel volume control as I keep leaning forward to change the radio station or make the music louder. Other than that, the car is great, hopefully I can put a lot more miles on it.

  • Most reliable car I have ever owned - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I have owned a lot of vehicles and have put a ton of miles on them. However, my 2005 Corolla has been by far the most reliable among all of them. I bought it brand new in late 2004 and performed all the required maintenance myself. What stands out about this car is that I drove it 178k miles before ANY repair was needed. Very few cars have performed that well. It ended up being the intake manifold gasket which what I hear from others, it one of the few things that go wrong with this car. I have averaged 35 mpg in 65% highway driving. I handed it down to my son but still drive it on occasion. Still going strong with 182k miles. Toyota has come close to perfecting this vehicle!

GREAT CAR FUN TO DRIVE FUEL EFFICIENT SPORTY STYLE.

  • XRS should be a small car contender!! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Price can be too high for some but if you can afford this 4 door rocket, get it! Using the Celicas engine it is rev-happy and is extremely brisk on the street! Going up to the mountains from Denver it easily scooted up those 6% inclines with 3 people in it and A/C on! Not an easy feat for most econo- boxes!!! Comfort is great, noise a smidgen high but not terribly bad! I do, however, have one gripe...the tires...lil too much flex on the sidewall when cornering, other than that the corolla loves to be tossed into corners! Even better ABS, all disc brakes, 6-speed, cruise, etc...and with Toyota reliablility!

  • Corolla S - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Toyota Corolla is a fun car to drive. Purchased the model S for the wife and she loves its design and features. Family and friends are often awed by its looks and wonder how much it cost. Wife feels like she is driving a luxury car with all the standard features this car provides. I would recommend Toyota Corolla S to anyone looking for reliable good looking car.
