This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • A Nice, sporty, compact car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Have had the car for 5 weeks now. No problems, appox. 26.5 mpg city and close to 30 - with more highway use. I would highly recommend the Corolla S to anyone wanting "sporty value". I added tinted windows and a chrome exhaust tip which make the car look even better!

  • Not So Hot - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This vehicle handles dangerously on the highway. Toyota chose to equip this vehicle with Goodyear Integrity tires, which arguably are some of the worst passenger car tires ever made. Torque steer is way out of line for such a small car. The Corolla gets blown all over the highway in strong winds, and is difficult to control. Persistent problems abound with the fuel system in the Corolla. Including no start conditions after the car sits 30 minutes. Impossible to make factory stereo iPod ready. Cheap, paper cone speakers produce horrid sound. This car simply fails to do anything well.

  • Big guy little car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

My favorite aspect of the Corolla is that I sense a total quality throughout the car. Its peppy and reliable as a watch and no wind noise, interior is not cheap looking, I call it my little Lexus. People laugh at the comparison but for $14K new, and fantastic resale value, it is great.

  • Not what I expected - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This car is way overrated. The ride is noisy and the alignment do not last. The design of the front windshield design blocks the view when turning. Blind spots are bigger. Just recently had to replace the ECU (computer). The tensioner pulley is making noise. Will be replaced next time it goes in for service. Foot place on left broke off. I will replace it soon before warranty expires. One of the worst vehicles I bought.

  • Good To Go - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I recently bought my car in march 05. I have had several cars throughout the years even a new kia. I feel this car is a steal for the money. By the time the loan is over your car will still be worth plenty. For once I have made a good choice in cars. No regrets. I do not think it was one bit over priced. Not for what you will get out of it in return.

  • Corolla XRS - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I had the car for 3000 miles now and over all its been a great car. The other car I was considering other than the XRS was the Nissan Sentra SE-R Vspec. I have to admit the Sentra was more performance oriented but I checked out the cars reliability within the past few years and Im not that impressed with it. Also I dont like the interior with the Sentra too so pretty much I ended up choosing the Corolla XRS.

  • High maintenance - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I purchased this car new. I have had the oil changed every 5,000 miles and it sits in my garage when not being driven. At 34,000 miles the car started making a screeching sound like a belt was bad and it began shifting roughly. The dealer said I needed the transmission fluid changed and a new belt. $312.00 later my car seems to be ok. I have had a Ford and Pontiac in the past and never had to make these types of services until 100,000. I am disappointed with this car and feel that the quality that Toyota is known for is slipping. Will never buy another Corolla.
