This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Quality is going down - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Ater owning it for less than 2 years, I have had so many problems with my 05 Corolla. I drive it under very normal conditions, no abuse or anything close to it, did all scheduled maintenance. Here are the problems so far: (1). In 6 months, the left mud guard fell off. (2). In 18 months, the fual pump broke, left me in the middle of nowhere on the interstate, after the car was towed and fixed, (3) service light went on about 6 hours after I got my car back from the dealer, another thing broke, and it is back to the dealership. In conclusion, this Corolla is awful!!!

Excellent compact car, reliable and with the comfort of a bigger car. Trunk space is great. Other than gas, regular oil change and tire rotation nothing has been required.

Too pricy. Engine is too noisy (leak of power). Cheap Goodyear tires (cant hold). Uncomfortable seats. Build quality is very poor. Nothing special. Toyota is now too lazy to be the best.

  • Great value - 2005 Toyota Corolla

After owning Fords, the comparison to Toyota is dramatic. This is my 4th Toyota. You get a great car for a good price; exceptional value! Old Toyotas are still strong and excellent MPG after 150k and 190k miles. This 2005 Corolla raises the bar for quiet, comfort and quality. You can hardly tell the car is running when its on. These cars are easy to work on. Lots of room to reach any component if you do your own work.

Bought my 2003 Corolla in April 2003. I love this car. Gas mileage is fantastic, the style is rich looking, great in snow.

  • Almost Perfect - 2005 Toyota Corolla

It was a toss up between Corolla and Civic. Both have documented quality, comparable MPG and priced competitively. The Corolla won out and Ive been very pleased since. I have 27,000 miles so far with only minor complaints. Overall the Corolla is tight, surprisingly quiet for an economy car and the best gas mileage short of a hybrid. Ive noticed the prices have gone up considerably since I purchased mine, but its still a great car for the price. If youre a "bang for the buck" kind of person, this is the car for you.

  • A "PRETTY GOOD" LITTLE CAR - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I like the comfort for a small car, even in the rear seats. The trunk isvery spacious. Great gas mileage - got 41 on a long trip, get 30 - 33 around town. Handles well, but the ride is a bit harsh. Biggest complaint are dash rattles and "buzzes" on coarse pavement. I also experience intermittent rattles - steering wheel and drivers door, that appear and then disappear - so theyre hard to fix. Im pretty disapointed in this lack of a "solid feel". Otherwise the car is fine. I rented one last week with 12,000 miles on it, it it was solid as a rock. Maybe mine was built on monday or friday.

  • Exceptional Motor Car - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Terrific for local commutes, quality interior with exception of left coin holder thingy door, not even sure what it is for but I guess coins, it feels like itll break. Interior is nice but if not leather interior, you may want to invest in a seat cover. Fit and finish otherwise is very good, quiet on the road. Toyotas secret may be their management, but also, they follow the KISS rule, Keep It Simple Stupid.

  • XRS is an underrated vehicle - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

This car looks like a Corolla S but drives way better. It takes some practice to figure out when to shift on the XRS ensure you are upshifting at the right point but it is well worth it and the cam shift between 6800-7000 is cool - the car comes alive. If you like manual transmissions you will like this car. It is almost like a motorcycle engine put into a corolla.
