This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

I absolutely love this car! Its a Corolla S w/Sport Plus Package. Its sporty, yet comfortable, and handles the road very well. I am truly a Toyota convert.

  • My 1st Toyota and lovin it - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Ive recently traded in my 2004 Corolla for a 2005 and Im glad I did. The 05 has a better feel, is smoother and quieter. I have been very pleased with the performance of this car as well as its reliabilty and think that it was the best purchase decision. The added power locks and cruise control option is definantly a plus and comes in handy. Will definantly purchase another Toyota product when I need to.

  • Toyota Corolla : My little BMW - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I know, I know, I only have 2500 miles on my new Corolla, but its so much fun to drive! The doors close magnificently; the motor purrs; the interior is quiet; the gas mileage is excellent. It handles like a little sports car. Ive have owned three Hondas before this Toyota. I have to say, after test driving the 2005 Civics and Corollas, there was no comparison. Honda definitely has some catching up to do.

  • Smooth and Balanced with Bite. - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I love this car. Its agility and balance are comprable to that of a roadster. This light weight sport version of the corolla has shed the econo-type that most think of in a sub $15K car. The Corolla S demonstrated its superb handling and drivability on my cross county trip where I sliced through corners in the mountains of North Carolina. Road conditions were varied from dry/smooth to wet/rough and even some gravel roads, through it all the outstanding suspension didnt even hiccup. The car balanced itself through every turn pulling a perfect line. Awsome "drivers" machine.

  • Went for the tC but choose the Corolla - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I went to the dealer to look at Scion tCs but as my mom and I were looking around we stopped to look at the Corollas. This is a great small car... quick, good on gas and fun to drive. I drove all the way Central NJ on one tank of gas in the middle of the summer with the A/C on full blast. I never thought I would own a Toyota but I dont think I will ever drive anything else. Its been only two weeks and I am still in love.

  • I really like this car! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I recently purchased my white Toyota after its sporty and clean looks really caught my eye - It has "ground effects" package, a "wing & power sunroof. I am 55 but not ready for an "old lady " car! I had been looking for a few months and this is the first car that seriously had everything I was looking for. It is extremely roomy & comfortable, with a great solid feel, and drives & handles like a dream-- with terrific gas mileage so far. Also, a big factor is that I got it for $10,000 LESS than the other cars I was considering! I am very happy! Even though its a 4 cylinder, it still moves great, anytime I hit the gas. Love it !

  • Good but a few issues. - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Ive really enjoyed owning this car for the past three months. Its smaller, lighter, tighter - and thus - more fun to drive than my last car (Mitsubishi Galant). I seem to be getting better gas mileage than a lot of the reviewers here (28-29 with a good deal of stop- and-go commuting)... not sure why that is. The car seems solid and confindence inspiring despite some rattles/buzzing from the rear deck (which I was able to decrease greatly just by jamming some foam rubber in the crack between the plastic pieces on the c-pillar and rear deck).

  • Great car but NONE with Side Air-bags - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I bought a automatic 2005 Corolla S at the end of June and I love it. I wasnt happy with Toyotas sales distribtion system. You cant get a Corolla S in the NJ/NYC area with SIDE AIRBAGS especially if you want a factory built sun-roof & ABS brakes because Toyotas out-of-touch distribution system will not send any built that way to the greater nyc area because past sales history does not show a demand for that option. Duh! The reason no history for that option in NYC area is because your required to make a special order request for it which could takeover 4 months and no guarentee. Not many will do that and wait over 4 months and no guarentee.

  • A few minor problems - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I purchased my Corolla 4 months/7000 miles ago. I had narrowed my choices down to this & a Mazda 3. The Toyota dealership ended up giving me a better deal so I went with them (not to mention the Mazda dealership couldnt tell me when the 3 would be in). Im getting awesome mpg. On a few highway road trips, I getting up to 41 mpg. In the city I usually get about 34 mpg - both better than advertised! This car is comfortable enough to sleep in and fun to drive. I have had a few problems, which I need to have checked out. If I start the car after it has been off for ~30-90 minutes, it takes several turns to start up. The windshield has a minor warp in one spot. The moonroof rattles.
