This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • They get better and better! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Had to give my 2001 Corolla to my daughter so I picked up a new S. My son has the Corolla LE 2003, one daughter has a 1999 LE, and the wife has a 2000 camry. The 2005 S has the best ride. A great improvement in comfort and road feel from the 2001. I would rather have this car than a BMW. It sits higher than the older Corolla and has a very solid feel and response. The backseat is still just a tad bit small for a tall person when the drivers seat is back. That is the only very minor complaint. For the money, this is the very best! Honda does not get close to this one.

  • I wish the dealer could fix this one - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Did a lot of research to find a reliable car. Our 1998 Camry was totalled and we wanted to stick with Toyota. We like the looks of the Corolla and the way it drove. We purchased on 8/3/04 and two days later the check engine light came on. Dealer said it was the gas cap. Light came on again and this time dealer said it was the o2 sensor. They replaced and light came on again the same day. Now dealer says it is the computer. Waiting for part to arrive from Japan because dealer says there is an upgrade in the computer we need. They have had the car for two weeks and they are telling me it will be another week.

This is a great little car for work and everyday driving. Even with a small 12 gallon gas tank it seems I can go weeks without filling it. Its fun to drive and comes with a great stereo.

  • Maintenance - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Car was good for the first 4 years. Dealer will try to talk you into maintenance that you dont need. Better hope your fuel pump doesnt breakdown. It costs $1140 to get a new fuel pump installed. Better hope your headlight doesnt crack. $200 just for the part. That doesnt even include labor. Overall, I would rate it 7 out of 10.

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my car!!! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This model of Corolla is like no other. For the price you pay, you get way more car for your buck then say a Civic. It is so fun to drive. It hugs turns like a little race car. I love the 6 speed. The body of the car is really cute and does not look like a boring sedan. I highly recommend this car.

  • Awesome Car, even for those over 6 ft - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Just purchased my 2005 Corolla S. It is the best car I have ever owned. For the price you just cant beat the quality of it. I am 6 ft 3 in and 210 lbs and I have plenty of legroom and headroom even with the sunroof. I would recomend this car to anyone

  • Great value - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I purchased my 2005 Corolla LE several weeks ago and very pleased so far. The interior is extremely refined and comfortable for a car in this price range. The rear seats have a lot of legand head room for a compact car. Driving is surprisingly smooth and comfortable by small car standards. Fuel economy is great - in mostly highway driving, I have been averaging about 36 mpg. Add in Toyotas sterling reputation for reliability and I highly recommend the Corolla to anyone looking for an inexpensive, but not "cheap" vehicle.

  • You Can Feel the Quality - 2005 Toyota Corolla

With 6,000 miles on my 2005 Corolla now, I am very impressed with the performance and feel of this car. I do not have even one small complaint about any aspect of the driving performance - good acceleration, good cornering, good visibility, good breaking, etc. I am 62" and have plenty of head room.

This car needs to have a smoother ride and the doors need to be easier to maneuver. Too much wind whistle and too much rattle.
