This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • It hauls! - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Still in the honeymoon stage. I am trying to learn a car w/ turbo. The lag in the low revs is unbearable at times. The understeer needs to be adjusted. Good build quality and sporty-feeling, but not as "nice" as the 03 Jetta we own. Great power, Great utility. It hauls! Love the smooth turbo.

  • Great Car For the $ - 2004 Subaru Impreza

This is a good car to have if you drive a lot especially. The TS is stable to drive in adverse weather conditions. The cars weight keeps it planted well on roads. Engine power is good for both city and highway driving, with a power band that produces even power thoughout. Everyone looking for a car in this price range should drive it to compare with other cars. This car is worth your time, especially if you test drive it in slippery road conditions. Give it a try!

  • Fun to Drive - 2004 Subaru Impreza

The WRX is just fun to drive, and with the rear spoiler its a great looker as well. I was a bit surprised on how solid it feels on the road, after all it is a small car. Theres just a solid feeling about it. Its a very quick car in all gears. The engine takes the revs easily and makes it a joy to run up past 6K. You can just throw it into a turn, and the car just asks for more.

  • Great Performance Sedan - 2004 Subaru Impreza

The Impreza WRX with the automatic transmission is a total joy to drive. Confidence inspiring with the all wheel drive. There is turbo lag below 3000 rpm. However, the engine has more than enough power to move along smoothly in rush hour type traffic. When the turbo kicks in, the car really gets up and goes. Great handling. Car design is practical, what with four doors and a reasonable sized trunk.

Great car, fun to drive. Beautiful inside and out. For the car enthusiast, you can add on nearly 100 horsepower with only a few mods. Fast, yet safe, all wheel drive gives complete control of the road. Manual transmission is a thrill. I would never consider buying any other car at the same price level. A terrific buy.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Ive owned about 8 cars from different manufacturers, and this is the best car Ive ever owned. Ive gotten as high as 33 mpg on the highway (with intake and exhaust). The seats are pretty comfy. Very adjustable. The wagon is a great touring car. Ive done several cross-country trips with it, and they were great. The interior is very roomy. Ive even put a full-size wooden-framed futon in the back before. We used to go camping all the time in this. Great to haul a lot of gear up and down mountains. Wagon handles great with 235mm summer tires. Performs awesome with snow tires. Built very nicely. No rattles or trim problems in the cabin. I look forward to owning more Subarus!

I have read about this vehicle for months but my surprise came when I bought it...This car is unbelievable! Its not for everybody because of the stiff ride and raw perfomance. But I love it! And I will enjoy it for years to come. Thank you Subaru!

  • Love my new car - 2004 Subaru Impreza

In one week I have become a Subaru convert. I love this car. It is a quick, smooth, solid ride. The AWD makes you feel pinned to the road and the handling on simple on and off ramps and turns is a joy. I had wanted the WRX and at first thought I settled for less but after the first 500 miles Im satisfied with the performance. The 165 horse and 166 torque is fully adequate for my needs. Test drove the auto transmission, do not waste your time with it, get the 5 spd manual.
