This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

I have had two Subaru Outbacks. Have had the rear ball bearing go out several times after the warranty was over. I like the car other than that. Has anyone else had this same problem??? I wonder if the makers are aware?

i really like this car. It is all i have wanted. The turbocharger on this car just gives me all the power and torque that i need. With the all wheel drive it is awesome. This car will not spin out. I ran the quarter mile in 8.7 in the quarter mile.

I live in Massachusetts, so having all wheel drive is a big plus.It is a fun car to drive in any kind of weather. I test drive the Mazda6s,WRX, and Nissan Maxima. Subarus reliability, all wheel drive, and the fun to drive factor really sold me.

Id been sentenced to the past few years to a Volvo sedan. Ive two little kids, and somewhere Id heard that Volvos were safe. But Id been eyeing the WRX for a couple years now, and finally took the plunge a couple weeks ago. It is a revelation. The feel is near- european, much superior to the mazdas and nissans I tested, though still not as vault-like as the Volvo. The acceleration is as filling-shaking as youd expect. More interesting is the handling. Throw it into a curve and torque it up, and theres not an ounce of slide or wobble. I dont get where people say the back seat is small. I cram my kids in there and they love it.

  • Power and Style - 2004 Subaru Impreza

We just purchased our first Impreza and went with the WRX Turbo. I have owned Legacy models for years and found that they lacked power, especially in the hilly terrain where we live. We wanted a manual transmission as well. This car fulfills both power and style. It doesnt see a hill and loves curves.

This vehicle exceeds all my expectations. It is a Sports Sedan and performs like it. There are very few cars out there that equal its performance near its price. On a long trip I cruised at 75-80 when allowed and got 27 mpg over 2000 miles. The ride and driving comfort was a 10. Inever got tired. Passing acceleration is amazing (70+ to over 100). It handles like it is on rails. Nothing comes close in the 25-30K range. Then there is the safety and handling associated with the All wheel drive! After 11,000 miles it is as tight as a new car. Original tires and wheel are more than adequate. I recently replaced them with 17" OZ wheels and Pirelli Pzero Neros.
