This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • Ive enjoyed my WRX - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Ive had this car for 5 months and find it to be a blast to drive. Handling is fantastic, and I like the tight feeling to the ride. Has a lot of quickness. The power is good when the rpms are high, but it does lack power at low rpms. One problem in my first 7,000 miles: someone hit the molding surrounding the fog light, and now it is VERY loose and will need to be replaced.

With the reliability of the japanese product and the best performance for your buck without compromising handling like most of the domestic models. The car has better hardware than that mitsu car. how can you compare drive trains. It $ 4,000. more but in after market cost would not even come close for the wrx to meet the parts cost bin or the evo for that. The car ifyou brake in proper can do sub 13.15 quater miles and handle if you know how to drive 72.1 in the salom. After all who is in the rally know and who dropted out last season!!

  • 3 years now and still loving it - 2004 Subaru Impreza

My husband convinced me to get this car because he knew that I would not need to replace it anytime in the foreseeable future. It works as a family car and a daily driver. My husband and I were window shopping for something better and you cant find it for less than $60k. At least not with 4 doors and AWD, which is a must.

Its a fast car, good engine reliability, and it has AWD, but the built in quality is so so. Squeaking is everywhere (window is squaking when you roll down). Dash board is ratling here and there. Seat is good for driving around the city, but its bad for out of town.

Very impressed with the power of this car. The 4 cylinder makes the most of the 165 horses. I never feel at a loss for power. Passing on the freeway is effortless. Also very impressive is the handling and overall tight driving feel of the car. It has a fat leather wrapped steering wheel thats very responsive, supportive seats that hold you in place while zipping through tight corners. And the growl of the engine is purrfect. Negative impressions: The cockpit is a bit tight. I have to be conscious of banging my rear into the center pillar getting into the car. The manual shifter is a bit stiff at times. Hoping it will break in with time.

Fun little car. I wanted something practical but not boring like hondas & toyotas. Car handles great, suspension is firm and gives nice feedback but on ruff roads it doesnt beat you up. Acceleration feels faster than it is. I have taken this car every where and it has never let me down. Car plows through snow. Car is a jack of all trades.

  • Boys just want to have fun - 2004 Subaru Impreza

It came to me as a surprise. Without any plan about it , one night I became owner of a SW WRX . Yes, I bought it without knowing nothing about the car. Only regret I have : I should have bought one of these before. Great fun is the name of the game.

  • Best All-round Performer Under $25,000. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Just bought the 2003 WRX for only 21459 3.9% 3yr in April03. I cant believe it! I went to the dealer and 2 guys were test-driving the 04 model. I love the 03 look better. And the 04 model were 3100 more with sunroof which I dont care about. I am so happy right now. Cant sleep before going down to my garage and look at her first.

  • A Legend in the making - 2004 Subaru Impreza
    By -

Previous car was a 5.0 V8 Mustang and I can say this car obliterates it in terms of performance. The STI has a far better balance of incredible peformance bang for buck. I believe this car will stand tall in the Hall of Fame of Japanese performance vehicles along with supercars like the Supra. Handling is porsche-like, braking is so strong its painful, and acceleration is everything a horsepower nut could want. After 17,000 miles in 90-100 degree weather I am very impressed with the Honda-like quality of this vehicle. Its also much faster than any Mitsu Evo Ive come across. Mark my words, it is a legend to-be. Its the 69 Camaro of the future.
