This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

There is no other car on the planet that makes more sense than a Subaru WRX STi! It makes 300 hp+300tq with no turbo lag from a turbocharged and intercooled 2.5L Flat 4 cyl,AWD,6 speed tranny, 4 doors, looks that could kill and with minor modifications can make well over 400 hp (like mine does). Sure the ride is a little harsh, but youre glued to the road I feel safer driving my 2 daughters around in it than any SUV or Volvo. Decent gas mileage and very reliable in all weather conditions. Plus 0-60mph in 4.5 sec & the 1/4mile in 13.3 sec@104mph STOCK! Ive spent approx $3500 and my car makes 427whp@6400rpm&446wtq@3600rpm,0-60 in 3.8sec & the 1/4mile 12.3@117mph! Its my daily driver too.

Ive only had the WRX a week but, I am constantly impressed with the level of performance built into the vehicle. The vewhicle was actually purchased for my wife, but I seem to be the one using more. The interior is small, so if you have kids or are hauling people, make sure everyon will fit. We have a 1yr and 3yr old, and their seats fit with just enough room to lower the center armrests. The cockpit is nicely DESIGNED, but sparcely appointed. If you want luxury, you can pay more but you will lose the smile factor when driving. Ive been researching this for months and cant find a better blend of utility, performance, safety, and liveability.

Absolutely love this car! Jaw dropping acceleration, tight handling and grippy all wheel drive make this a blast to drive.

i really like this car. It is all i have wanted. The turbocharger on this car just gives me all the power and torque that i need. With the all wheel drive it is awesome. This car will not spin out. I ran the quarter mile in 8.7 in the quarter mile.

Id been sentenced to the past few years to a Volvo sedan. Ive two little kids, and somewhere Id heard that Volvos were safe. But Id been eyeing the WRX for a couple years now, and finally took the plunge a couple weeks ago. It is a revelation. The feel is near- european, much superior to the mazdas and nissans I tested, though still not as vault-like as the Volvo. The acceleration is as filling-shaking as youd expect. More interesting is the handling. Throw it into a curve and torque it up, and theres not an ounce of slide or wobble. I dont get where people say the back seat is small. I cram my kids in there and they love it.

  • Power and Style - 2004 Subaru Impreza

We just purchased our first Impreza and went with the WRX Turbo. I have owned Legacy models for years and found that they lacked power, especially in the hilly terrain where we live. We wanted a manual transmission as well. This car fulfills both power and style. It doesnt see a hill and loves curves.
