For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

A Legend in the making - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By fuzzydude - November 25 - 10:00 amPrevious car was a 5.0 V8 Mustang and I can say this car obliterates it in terms of performance. The STI has a far better balance of incredible peformance bang for buck. I believe this car will stand tall in the Hall of Fame of Japanese performance vehicles along with supercars like the Supra. Handling is porsche-like, braking is so strong its painful, and acceleration is everything a horsepower nut could want. After 17,000 miles in 90-100 degree weather I am very impressed with the Honda-like quality of this vehicle. Its also much faster than any Mitsu Evo Ive come across. Mark my words, it is a legend to-be. Its the 69 Camaro of the future.

Im also relearning other pleasures associated with smaller cars, like increased parking opportunities, nimbleness in traffic, weight-to-power ratio and smaller surface area to wash :>) This car has neck snapping acceleration. When pushing this car to its limits one better be paying attention. Great for around the city, not sure Ill be taking this car on long road trips; not a lot of leg room for back seat riders and the trunk is a little small for luggage for four (ok for groceries though).

One year later - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Texasube - September 15 - 9:13 amBeen a good little car and lots of fun to drive when driven hard. Fuel economy has been about 16/27 so far. Fine on long trips and it loves the corners. Car is a bit of work in the city, though. Always working to keep the revs in the power band and the constant rowing through the gearbox while going from one red light to another is tiring. But, thats more my problem than the cars so no penalty there.

Subaru Outback Sport 5sp - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By RGF - August 27 - 10:00 amThis is the 2nd Impreza Outback Sport Wagon we have owned,the 1st one was a 2002 that had 32000m when traded. The only problem on this car was a recalled clutch assembly and a new flywheel. This was handled without any delay. Our car was repaired and returned in the same day. The 2004 is very tight and handles any condition surface with ease. Subarus engine location and the excellent gearing make for quick acceleration and a smooth ride. The only complaint I have is the shifter that comes stock is too loose and can be a nuisance when trying to down shift. The good news is there is an optional short shifter.

Its a Beast - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By JDT - July 31 - 2:00 amI love this car. There are few other cars on the road that have no difficulty in smoking Camaros with a full-assembled BBQ in the back. Having tried it in snow, I have never had a more sure-footed car that can perform at that level. This thing accelerates like it was kicked; even on ice. It stops like it is anchored; even on ice. It is extremely nimble and it mixes a huge fun-factor with reasonable practicality. Thank you Subaru.
