This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • Awesome car but hjkhl is mistaken - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I cant believe how fast this car is. Virtually no turbo lag and grips like flypaper! But there is no way anyone can do the quarter mile in 8.7...hjkhl is mistaken, unless he did some heavy modifications. Maybe he meant the 1/8 mile?

I like the way my WRX Wagon handles the corners, Iv only got it to drift on drit roads which was easy to controll. As far as power when I need to pass I hit the turbo at 4000 rpm and Im gone. It took a little while for me to get ajusted to the clutch and power band. The AC works well The kids feel it in the back right away, have"nt need heater yet.

  • So much better than a base WRX - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I used to own a 2002 WRX and thought it was an awesome car. This one, however, has blown me away. It is truly an amazing vehicle.

This is a true performance car that just happens to have four doors. Power is when and where you want it and is very streetable and smooth. Short throw six speed is all thats available and that is the way it should be. Firm ride is not for everyone, but those that want "feel" and "control", this is your car. Brakes...OH YEAH, Brembos all around. Large fully functional hood scoop and absense of radio is reminiscent of a 68 Hemi Dart. MPG (18- 22) is above average for this performance level. FUN FUN FUN!

With the reliability of the japanese product and the best performance for your buck without compromising handling like most of the domestic models. The car has better hardware than that mitsu car. how can you compare drive trains. It $ 4,000. more but in after market cost would not even come close for the wrx to meet the parts cost bin or the evo for that. The car ifyou brake in proper can do sub 13.15 quater miles and handle if you know how to drive 72.1 in the salom. After all who is in the rally know and who dropted out last season!!

  • 3 years now and still loving it - 2004 Subaru Impreza

My husband convinced me to get this car because he knew that I would not need to replace it anytime in the foreseeable future. It works as a family car and a daily driver. My husband and I were window shopping for something better and you cant find it for less than $60k. At least not with 4 doors and AWD, which is a must.

Very impressed with the power of this car. The 4 cylinder makes the most of the 165 horses. I never feel at a loss for power. Passing on the freeway is effortless. Also very impressive is the handling and overall tight driving feel of the car. It has a fat leather wrapped steering wheel thats very responsive, supportive seats that hold you in place while zipping through tight corners. And the growl of the engine is purrfect. Negative impressions: The cockpit is a bit tight. I have to be conscious of banging my rear into the center pillar getting into the car. The manual shifter is a bit stiff at times. Hoping it will break in with time.

It came to me as a surprise. Without any plan about it , one night I became owner of a SW WRX . Yes, I bought it without knowing nothing about the car. Only regret I have : I should have bought one of these before. Great fun is the name of the game.

Just bought the 2003 WRX for only 21459 3.9% 3yr in April03. I cant believe it! I went to the dealer and 2 guys were test-driving the 04 model. I love the 03 look better. And the 04 model were 3100 more with sunroof which I dont care about. I am so happy right now. Cant sleep before going down to my garage and look at her first.
