This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

I have had my STi for a few weeks now and it is amazing. The interior is beautiful. The chrome accents give a hint of luxury to this almost strictly performance car. It has more torque then the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and you feel every bit of it. When you push the gas you can feel your back being pressing into the seat. Even with all this power the ride is amazingly smooth. The handling is quick and responsive. The car also doesnt have quite as much of the "teenagers Honda" look to it as the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution does. All in all this is in my opinion the best sports car ever made under $60,000.

this a great all around car. fast, handles like a dream. sticks to the road like you wouldnt beleive. it is on par with many high end exotics. it will hang with or beat my fathers porsche gt2 in all aspects. my hats off to subari for FINALLY bringing the sti to the usa. hopefully the battle for power and handling will continue with mitsubishi as it has for years overseas

What a great car! I got the 2004 Impreza WRX Wagon for my fiance, and now Im sad ...coz Id rather drive it than my loaded Beemer 328i! The Subaru isnt luxurious, but its built like a tank and the performance is awesome. The only downside to this car is throttle response, due to the fact we got the auto tranny (Mrs. cant drive stick) and the engine is a turbo afterall. But once the RPMs get over 4000 it goes like a rocket, power builds nicely and youre soon going too fast with a big grin. Cant wait to get out the WRX on some twisties this weekend!

With 227 horses under your complete contol how can you not love this car? Sweet lines, awesome hood scoop and amazing performanc. The only thing I think should come standard is 17" wheels just like the WRX STi will in 2004. Power is all in the mid to upper RPM range but once you hit 4000RPM you never look back. Acceleration is absoluetely amazing! Smooth ride and superb handling are there as expected with the AWD of all Subarus you cant get more performance for less money!

With Subaru touting its WRX almost to the exclusion of all other Impreza models, you may feel a little funny at first leaving the dealer lot at LESS than 100 miles an hour, but you cannot go wrong with an Outback Sport! The non-turbo 2.5L engine is VERY peppy, the auto trans a much better match AND the Outback trim very eye-catching. Not to mention you will save about $4,000! I love this car AND the smart decision I made in buying this less popular Impreza!

its fun! What else can I say, but it needs less understeer, and quicker steering. Overall one of the best performance values around.

I own the 04 WRX STi and it is the best car I have ever driven. if you are cosidering buying a subaru WRX,you should absolutly say yes. Dont let the high prices worry you, it is worth every penny. Even though I have only owned the car for about 3 weeks, I plan on owning it forever. by the way, my annual milage isnt correct because I only have 120 miles on it.
