Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Great Value & Fun to Drive! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By S.Fong - November 6 - 10:23 pmI searched for a replacement car for quite awhile and having been out of the new car market for years, I was shocked to see how much technology has changed and how much I have been missing. The newly designed Volkswagen Jetta captured my interest and heart right away with its snazzy new style, front grille and tail lamps. But moreover, it was the interior comfort and quality that was noticeable compared to the competition. The car is a blast to drive, it has power and zips around to make it fun and enjoyable. I felt the overall value for the quality and integrity of the car made it an obvious choice for me. I realized I didnt have to bust the bank to get a great new car.

2006 Model JETTA TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Mechanobot - October 25 - 4:06 amIt is probably the best car I ever owned. Comfort, reliability, and yes, MPG! I do take pictures from time to time to show people and even drive around some skeptical colleagues. I do get on a highway about 52-53 mpg ! yes, that is right, not a typo, and about 45- 47 in the city. It has pickup, torque, fast acceleration (you can drive in manual too) and is real good quality made.

Great Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By pglauninger - October 11 - 12:35 pmso alot of people have been complaining about the cam and dual mass flywheel problems on this car, frankly ive had none of those issues. i purchased mine second hand with low mileage, im not at 170,000k and the only problem ive had was a rad hose broke roughly about 6 months ago. frankly i got the extended warranty with the car and never had to use it, actually never had to use my warranty on any of my past VWs. i keep coming back to the brand (4th one now) because frankly dollar for dollar you cant find anything quite comparable from ford, hyundai, nissan, mazda... ect. i love this car and all of my previous Vws never had any problem and i swear by these cars. truly an amazing brand.

2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By brady - October 7 - 7:56 pmI picked my Volkswagen Jetta TDI up today. I drove the 175 miles home from dealer at 70 mph and averaged 51.7 mpg. The navigation system worked flawlesly. It is very user friendly. Disappointments, no DRLs, no wood, no homelink, no auto headlites - not that you cant live without the above its just that they were available on the 05 Jetta TDI with Pkg. 2. Electric steering allows a good feel for the road and robs nothing from the engine. Road noise is not obtrusive and the car feels typically German! You cant beat the fit, the finish, the economy and the fun.

honestly read this - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By listen here - September 13 - 5:23 pmI really want everyone to know every car has its problems. Most people write their reviews because they are upset. I have had my VW jetta for 6 months and have put over 10,000 miles on it. I bought it used and drive it every day all day. This car is built like a rock. Its quick and fun to drive. Pretty from the inside out. It doesnt get the best gas mileage and if you dont shut your blinker off before you shut the car off your lights wont shut off also my car struggles to work in freezing weather. It starts right up but the electrical stuff doesnt work well at 19 degrees. Over all its great and reliable I want another VW perhaps a bluesport? check them out

Jetta TDI - Perfect at 18,000 miles - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Brian_in_Florida - September 1 - 8:06 amI purchased the Jetta TDI with DSG Auto 6 speed tranny and Package 1 last Fall. After owning Japanese cars and BMWs the last 20 years, I was concerned about quality, but so far I love my TDI. The DSG tranny is superb. I drive 110 miles per day highway at 80 mph getting 42 - 44 mpg. The driving dynamics of this car are as good as my wifes BMW 330Ci. It is a n nice tight package with excellent fuel economy. I only wish the styling didnt look like a cheap Corolla.

My Love of Jettas - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Sunshinegirl - September 1 - 12:36 amI bought a 2006 Jetta Value Edition after little research. I loved everything I read about the car and was impressed with the safety ratings. I feel comfortable driving me and my little one around town. It is a very smooth ride and has a lot of power for a $20,000 car. The interior is functional and cool to look at. I dont think I will ever get bored driving this car.

VW DID IT AGAIN - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Tim - August 22 - 8:46 amThis is my 3rd VW Jetta. I owned a 2000 GLS 2.0 and 2004 GLS 1.8T. I never have had any problems with any of them. So far, I have 17000 miles on the 2006 and no issues. This car is quiet, no wind noise, the engine sounds great when you step on it, the transmission/clutch is smooth, excellent stero system sound, great heated leatherette seats, excellent climate control system, and by far EXCELLENT handling. My only complaint is the city driving gas mileage is poor compaired to my old Jettas.
