Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

My Jetta TDI experience - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Starsister - April 3 - 6:10 pmI have owned two VW beetle TDIs and my 2006 new Jetta has simply been the best car Ive ever owned. And Ive owned them all from BMWs, to Toyotas, you name it. The Jetta diesel has turned out to be wonderful. A mid- sized luxury car that doesnt look like a tunerville trolly (prius) and yet for me averages 43 mpg. Last fill up I got 49 mpg. Highly Recommend everyone get one of these . . comfort, reliability and excellent miles per gallon. Quiet and handles just like a gas car, no smells, no waiting for glow lights, VWs finest engineering. I still have 40% of my brakes left on original set at 106,000 miles and 4 years later.

A Wolf in a Runt Sheeps Clothing - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Martin - April 1 - 6:56 amI was in the market for a Honda Accord or Nissan Altima, a $199/Month Lease...same as most people that are as frugal as me. So I go test drive a VW. Holy Moly! This is a Value Edition? What does the regular one do? The 6 Speed Triptonic automatic transmission is very responsive. I know cars and VW is way ahead of its time offering a package like this as standard. The car is still a deal well into the $20,000 range. I got mine at a huge discount because I liked the Beige. The 6th gear lets you go 50 - 60 mpg at under 2,000 RPM which translates to huge gas efficiency. The service that backs this car is up to par with a BMW or Mercedes complete with loaner car. Save money and enjoy driving again. This car has it all.

Best Car for the Money - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By JH - March 31 - 10:06 amIve never thought of a car more than a vehicle to get from point A to B, until now. Its been over a year and everyday I got in this car and loved it. Its a thrill to have all of features this car does for the money I spent. My Dad has a Benz and we have practically all the same features. We joke that its a cheaper version of the Mercedes.

Huge Bang for your Buck - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Brian - March 26 - 2:20 amThe standard features on the new Jetta seem endless. I was on a budget, so I bought the base model, and I am still discovering new features. Volkswagen designs their cars specifically for the driver. Volkswagen is to the automobile industry what Apple is to the computer industry. Its not a machine to get from one point to another, it is an experience to make the journey as exciting as the destination.

2006 VW Jetta TDI hits the Sweet Spot - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By bcpjetta06tdi - March 23 - 10:10 amI have had my 2006 VW Jetta TDI for about three weeks now and absolutely love it. My dealer was very knowledgeable, but the VW standard for service is clearly not as high as that of other dealers. For example, my car arrived with only one working key, and it was a valet key. I had to wait a week for new keys, and the dealer kept my car for three days to program the keys when they arrived. But I had a loaner just like my car so I did not care. If you want a VW, you have to be willing to accept a lower standard of service. It comes with the territory. However, the car itself is outstanding. Its too soon to know about its reliability, but in all other regards, it is an absolute beauty.

Forget about Japanese cars, get a GLI ! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By z3r0c00l - March 16 - 1:46 pm6 months ago, I was searching for a new car and thinking to get a Honda Civic SI, Nissan Altima 3.5L OR a Toyota Camry V6. However, I saw someone drove a new GLI and amazed with how beautiful the car was. I owned a VW Golf 2.0L and it was an OK car for me, not too impressed by it. Then, I decided to test drive a GLI and fell in love right away! Forget about those Japanese cars which are built by old grandma non-virgin metal! Thats why they are cheap! Get a real car under $30,000, complete w/ Package 2 GLI and youll never regret it. The car is superb, comes with high quality interior, sweet looking exterior and excellent performance. I dont like it, I love it!

Love My Jetta! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Kay - February 20 - 4:30 pmThis car replaced my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fuel savings alone covers half of my car payment. It has a great sound system / 6 disc CD / sirius radio, sporty suspension, is fun to drive, and it accelerates as well or better than my previous V8 Jeep. It ran slightly rough for the first 5,500 miles or so, but now it is very smooth. I have the leatherette (faux leather) seats, they look great and hold up well to my dog. The heated seats are wonderful in the cold weather. I bought an aftermarket GPS system and keep it on the dash instead of opting for the factory installed version. Its cheaper and portable if we take a different car for trips - though with the great MPGs, and the comfort on long trips, we rarely do!

Need deep pockets for repair/maintenance. - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By norsechild76 - February 10 - 10:45 am110K miles on 2006 Jetta TDI, original owner. Had to have both front axles replaced under warranty in 2008. Just had to have the dual mass flywheel replaced and another axle...$2,400.00 out the door. 100k mile maintenance, another $1,200.00. Headliner is falling down around our ears and has been for several years. Dealer experience is great as long as you are willing to right big checks and not question anything. Very disappointed overall with the value of this vehicle...will NOT buy another. Next car will be a Subaru or Honda.
