Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

I Love my Jetta - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Blair - April 22 - 5:36 amThis is my second Volkswagen Jetta. I am a 23 year old female in the workforce and I feel wonderful driving my Jetta to the office and on the weekends with my friends to go out! It is so fun to drive and I feel 100% safe driving it.

Bad Auto Transmission - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Wayne - April 18 - 9:06 amGreat Car on fuel mileage, however; about 1000 miles after warranty expired (60,000), transmission goes out. The dash rattles which gets annoying. The car handles good.

New to VW - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Nalani - April 14 - 10:00 amI just bought my car this year and so far so good. We noticed the headliner coming off and the dealership fixed it under warranty. I do notice a knocking noise, sounds like its coming from the trunk. I tease my son and tell him its the other passenger trying to get out. Everytime Ive had an issue the dealership has been the best. It handles great and fun to drive. My husband drove it to work one day and he loved it. I was just looking for something simple and got more then expected.

Fun to drive costly to repair - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By dissatisfied in SC - April 14 - 10:00 amThis is a very fun car to drive with plenty of pep for a 1,9 diesel. Rear brakes go out first not the front as with other vehicles. The design and engineering is second to none for ergonomics and style but very poor quality of parts. The driverside window motor was replaced, the wiring harness is a common point of failure and the vent grills break easily. You will like the feel of this car but not the expense to own.

Warranty - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Evelyn Vincent - April 6 - 5:46 amDid not have trouble until now at 105000 km. I lost power. Still at the dealership and who knows what all is wrong. They are starting with one part at a time. Since when should a care only run well for 100000 km and then be off of warranty. Does not make any sense to me and I should have checked the warranty closer. Have been told warranty is warranty and you are over the km. Waiting for the final results.

Pros have outweighed the cons - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By bdunn87 - March 30 - 11:15 amIve had my Jetta TDI for about 4 years now, coming on 5. Bought it with 162,000km on it. For the most part, this car has been bullet proof. Drives smooth, gas mileage is great. Interior hasnt malfunctioned or fallen apart. Its significantly more comfortable than the previous model. I owned a 2000 Jetta as well and just found the seats were WAY too firm. The seats are firm on this one, but not as. Its easy to drive for 10+ hours. The only gripe Ive had with this car is that for some reason, both side mirrors have somewhat corroded off. Passenger mirror went first, just kind of hung there. Then the driver side just kind of fell off out of no where. Have had to glue them back on.

Totally Satisfied - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Morescratch - March 18 - 6:46 pmThe Jetta is a great car. I have had no problems whatsoever other than 2 small cosmetic issues covered under warranty. This has been a fantastic car and I am planning on buying another. For the money it cant be beat. For those of you that shop on spec sheet comparisons alone you are really missing out.

Performance, comfort, and fuel economy - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By john - March 12 - 4:43 amI purchased my Jetta sans a test drive. I was afraid that a test drive would kill my determination to purchase a diesel. I can now say that I feel like a genius. With 6,000 miles on it I am getting 43 mpg average. I have been getting good dealer swervice. One problem a jamed glove box door. A replacement came at no cost. One complaint is the lights should "Auto off" or have a louder warning buzzer. Overall this is a super car with superior handling and super gas mileage. It is a great highway car, smooth, quiet, and comfortable.
