Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Mid-sized Luxury w/great economy - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Trisha - September 24 - 3:56 pmCant say enough about my Jetta TDI, Ive owned 2 diesel beetles, but the new Jetta (2006) is a real champion and I still get about the same mpg that I did with the beetle (45-50 mpg) Not to mention pure comfort especially on long hauls. Great car, solidly built and the auto tiptronic tranny gets better mpg than manual shift. Only downside: running the ac cuts fuel economy approx 6 mpg.

Love this car! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Mark - September 15 - 10:00 amThe car has a great feel on the road. This is my first diesel and German car for that matter and I am sold! So many little features in the interior, Im amazed at how much thought went into the little things. I still discover new features I never realized were there, years later. Ive also never needed to use any fuel additives for the winter and Ive never had an issue with Michigans cold months. At 50,000 miles, all four sets of brake pads still have more than 50% pad left and the pad wear appears even across all 4 wheels. This is a great car, you will never regret the purchase.

Great Ride! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Thundercat - September 11 - 1:00 pmI agonized over buying this car for weeks. It was between the Jetta, the Acura RSX, and the Honda Accord. After test driving, I picked the Jetta. It came standard with more features (especially safety features) than any other car I looked at. I mean, come on, everyone drives a Honda, be different. Plus, lets face it, it looks cool. The ride is smooth and the interior is great. I love the leatherette seats...all my friends think they are real leather. The heated mirrors and seats are great in the winter. I got the Option 1 with Sirius stellite radio...now I wished a picked XM, but the car is so versatile that I can get XM later if I want.

Love My Jetta - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Erik - August 27 - 12:53 amI bought my A5, so I am told it is called, Jetta in March. I traded my Jetta VR6 for it and am surprised at the changes. I love them dual climate control and the satelite radio. The size increase is very nice as well. Overall my satisfation with this car is good, but I have had one quirk that the dealer or Volkswagen of America have not been able to fix. While on the satelite side of the radio I get feedback like acceleration thru my speakers. This car provides a lot of features for the money.

WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Txst - August 2 - 1:33 pmI just got my Jetta TDI today and I must say that it is by far the best car I have ever owned. There are so many features to be enjoyed in this car and although I payed just below sticker price I really feel I got a very good deal. I have noticed that other places are jacking up these vehicles by thousands of dollars because they know there are only a few left and people will pay well above sticker for them. So far the whole experience has been great. Get one while you still can...there arent too many left. I was not considering getting the manual tranny but one test drive sold me.

The Hybrid Killer.... - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By jhb - July 30 - 5:13 pmCommuting 42 miles each way to work requires a good dependable vehicle with really good fuel mileage. So my choices were a hybrid or a TDI. There is no comparison, after test driving both, the TDI is the winner hands down. It has plenty of power with the turbo and the long term reliability of diesel. Why should you have to sacrifice your driving experience to save on fuel and for the environment? With the TDI you can eat your cake and have it too! It has decent power, tons of room, is well built even for a VW, and it is fun to drive, plus it gets well over 40 mpg...mixed highway and city. Im clocking in at 48 mpg, consistently. So whether a Jetta, or Golf..the TDI is a hybrid killer.

BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By MAJPETE67 - July 20 - 9:00 pmI would have never thought of owning a diesel, so I am glad I got a VW. This car has carried me all over the US and I just passed my 114K mile. I have never had a problem with this car and the drive is great. Most people have no idea its a diesel or that it is an 06. My mileage is greater than planned and I get from 42-48 MPG consistently. I use regular diesel and the new improved diesel works just as well.

FUN! FUN! FUN! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By bkpoovey - July 17 - 11:50 amI have owned a Mercedes C230, Acura TL, and recently purchased a BMW 330Ci. I was disapointed in BMW and could not understand all the hype surrounding this car. I test drove the Audi A3 and A4 before trying the Jetta GLI. I enjoyed the feel and handling of the Audi A3 but the GLI won me over. This is the most fun car that I have ever owned. For someone looking for a fun well made car with good peerformance and a sporty feel, this is the car at a good price.
