EUV, economy usable vehicle - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By Mr Honda - May 28 - 10:00 amWorth every penny. Rock solid econohauler. Cheap materials inside, easily scratched but easy to care for. Gauges difficult to read in bright sun, nearly invisible. Lawsuit waiting to happen.

Put to the test, and it passed! - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By Jake - May 22 - 6:39 pmLet me start by saying I am not gentle with anything I own. I picked this car up with 180,000 miles for $2500 and it had not been taken care of. I learned how to drive stick on it and took it everywhere from the lower Sierra Nevada mountain range on trails where you need a 4x4, to out in the mohave desert where I jumed it so high I ripped the wheel wells out when I landed. It does not quit! The AC has always blown cold and the only thing that Ive ever done is give it an oil change, new tires, and a new clutch (that last one was my fault). Now sadly, just short of 200,000 miles the transmission has given out and it is on its way to the junk yard. But it has seen and done more than most trucks ever will and it has never left me stranded no matter where I go. The only thing that could be better is it has a little road noise and it doesnt shift very smooth, plus you have to put the clutch to the floor to shift. Mabey thats just mine but either way I am more than pleased with this car.

Quite the Warrior - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By jones3kn - April 15 - 7:03 amMy mom and dad bought this car new and when I turned 16 in 2008, they turned it over to me. Before I had it, my brother drove it and got in a wreck with a large SUV and it survived with just a large dent in the front end. Since then, I have put this car through the wringer. Im a rock climber, so I am constantly travelling and the storage capacity is amazing with the folding back seats. This is my go-to road trip car. Its now 11 years old and I just took it up through the Adirondaks, White Mountains and to Maine and back to Ohio. It has a little over 150K and its still running strong. Im actually planning a trip across the country to visit my brother in Portland, OR from Ohio.

My Blueboy - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By debster - March 10 - 10:00 amHave had my indigo blue 4WD XR for 4 mos. now and love the thing. Pouring rain does not affect the handling of this car - you just ride on through. The seats are comfortable but the gas pedal is set too high. Huge cargo area - we take this car instead of our SUV camping.

Great small wagon - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By cafeaulait71 - March 10 - 10:00 amI am very satisfied with my silver Matrix. Ive had this car for six weeks and have driven over 3200 miles!!! The Matrix is no sports car, but its handling is very responsive. The engine is a bit sluggish, but hey, what can you expect for a compact car...The 35 mpg that I got on recent road trip more than makes up for that. I also love that car is deceptively spacious - several friends and family members have commented on how roomy it is...Overall, I highly recommend this car.

My fave - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By Twist - February 24 - 10:00 amI may only be 16 but Ive driven some fast cars. This one is my favorite. Speedy, good braking and amazing handling are only a few of its great layout. The gauges are easy to read and they look especially nice in the dark. The in-dash shifter is a bit finiky to begin with but after a few drives it becomes natural. 10/10 A definite buy and worth the price. Model: XRS Color: Black w/ black interior Trans: 6 speed manual Options: All except for 17" wheels Extras: 16" Konig Maxxim 187 wheels

Not too bad.....BUT - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By toyota fan - February 13 - 10:00 amOverall a nice car, BUT there is always room for improvements. I learned quick that if you want good Toyota service, you sometimes have to file a complaint! The master cylinder went out at 4000 miles- needless to say we werent too happy and the service department wasnt very kind- but we just called the 1-800 number and had a little talk with Toyota- the problem was then solved correctly AND with a smile! Roomy ride, awesome design, and I love the interior! We did purchase the XR with the smaller engine just because I didnt believe the larger engine to be worth the extra cash. So far, after 8000 miles we are happy with the smaller engine.
