Unreliable, poor quality - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By jamesimcb - March 29 - 5:03 pmI raved about this car when i first got it. But after a transmission failure at 130,000 kms I am very disappointed. Fuel economy has gone down ever since. many rattles in the car. failed caliper. toyota cost over 800 dollars. The premium you pay for a toyota is no longer worth it. Buy north american and save some money as Toyotas quality has gone down hill!

I hate the shifting in traffic - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By Byran Wang - December 17 - 2:00 amWhen Toyota says in the brochure that the Matrix is Sportcar, Wagon, SUV and blar... I thought that Toyota really mean it. I love the Matrix at first, but after driving it for a while I never have the trill to drive it fast or at least at the speed that I want. I loose to WRX, CRV, 4Runner even Honda Odyssey at greenlights. And mind is a 6 speed.

Missed the target, Toyota. - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By eric - October 20 - 5:56 pmThe Matrix and its sister car, the Pontiac Vibe, are based on the Corolla platform. Ill just summarize by saying that this car, in all trims but the XRS, is tragically underpowered, particularly with the automatic, which is the only transmission available with AWD versions. Its very Japanese. Noise, firm seats, terrible steering wheel angle, and abusive ride are the most noticeable detractions from what could have been a nice car. On the positive side, it fits lots of stuff inside, and sees tolerable fuel numbers. Keep in mind, folks, reliability is a part of quality of life. Consider comfort and usability when considering your next vehicle. Or maybe Im just getting old.

crappy car - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By tully2 - October 17 - 8:00 pmI would NEVER buy this car if I could do it again! I bought one of the first ones and it is a total LEMON and the dealership wont replace it. drawers and pannels fall off all the time, chrom has fallen off. The AC has broken 3 times and now the engine and transmission have a serious problem and the dealership wont fix it because it is 5,000 miles past the warrenty. I have taken good care of this car and done all the oil changes but it doesnt seem to matter. I expected more from toyota and I also expected a transmission and engine in ANY new car to last longer than 3 years!
