  • Best of both worlds - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Not too many cars that go from 0- 60 in 7 seconds, yet get 32 mpg on the road. Also, the fact that theres lots of room in back with the seats folded down is a major plus. Are you reading this, bicyclist and skiers? It handles great and is a pleasure to drive long distances. I regularly took 1000 mile round trip drives and it never missed a beat. The extra kick pas 6000 RPMs is addicting. It looks cooler the longer you have it, with all of the ground effects, but that did have its down side. The front spoilers were too low and I was always scraping them on curbs, sometimes damaging them. I would have kept it, but decided to get a 4X4 SUV for the Wisconsin winters. I miss the gas mileage.

  • Great Car For The Money - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Bought my XRS last night, 4-6 weeks until I take delivery. The car offers more versatility for the money than any other car we looked at in the price range. Its great if you are looking for a fast, fun car that can still handle a bit of cargo. It looks great, but I wish there were more of an aftermarket!

I cant believe some wrote that this vehicle is slow. I bought the AWD since I live where it snows I was a little put back that I lost 7 hp off the 130 or so HP, but Im on a road trip and had to push the vehicle around semis, I was doing 80 I dropped it out of over drive and hit 100 plus in seconds the top end of this vehicle was very impressive, I will put this up against my V8 hemi at high the end any day. Impressive for a 4 banger..... Im 64" and have basketball buddies who fit comfortably as well....

  • Say goodbye to your SUV - 2003 Toyota Matrix

When I first started looking for a replacement for my SUV, I only looked at sport luxury cars. I was already spoiled with powerful acceleration, leather seats and smooth handling, I just wanted something easier on the gas mileage. One drive in a fiery Matrix XRS changed my perception. It has just as much space as my SUV, as well as the handling, gas mileage and features of a luxury car. Additionally, the XRS model puts out 180hp in a 6 speed manual which provides more than enough power for me. This car looks great inside and out, the gauges are set back into the dash for a very sporty feel. I absolutely love this car.

I recomend this car to all that are looking for serious performance, with the added comfort of storage space. 6 speed manual tranny, The engine is a 1.8L with VVTL-I. Stands for variable valve timing and Lift with intelligence. Basically this beast does not redline until 8200 rpms. When you hit 6000 rpms in any gear the engines internals shift producing a 50 horespower difference from the base, and xr models. You get sucked back into your seat and everybody within earshot will allmost break their necks trying to figure out how that "station Wagon" just made that sound. Allot of bang for your buck with this vehicle. XRS is the way to go.

I fell in love with the Matrix the first time I laid eyes on it! Its snazzy for an economy vehicle and is just plain NICE! My sales dealership, Mike Johnsons Hickory Toyota was the best in customer service and had the best price around!

so much fun to drive, it looks better than it appears on photos, and much roomier than I expected too... the design is very detail-oriented, paying attention to little things such as lights, storage spaces, and more... overall Toyota quality: I was also looking at others cars, such as Mazda Protege 5 (which is also beautiful), but I decided to go for Matrix because the quality is better.

Great car...was same price as fully loaded civic we had looked at earlier, but felt much more solid. Extremely comfortable, drives very well, and looks somewhat flashy.

Excellent car, runs well on freeways. City is a little rough (pot holes).

  • When is an option not an option - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

I was moving up from a 1990 Toyota Corolla. I could not fathom why the Heavy Duty heater option with the rear windshield wiper was an option, but every car had it. Every time I brought it up, they said they could not do for me what I wanted. I suggested the just raise the price $250.00 and call is standard rather than an option. I ended up buying what they have in stock. Today it went down to freezing and I turned on the wipers and nothing happened with the frost on my Windshield. I turned them off and put on the air on high and defrost on and heat on. Winin about 1 minute the windshield was clear. I was happy to see this.
