This Year's Model Updates:

The 2000 Toyota Camry sedan receives minor updates. The exterior benefits from new front and rear styling. Camry LE models get 15-inch tires with new wheel covers while the XLE gets standard 16-inch tires. Four-cylinder models make three more horsepower than last year. Interior upgrades include an available JBL premium audio system, automatic climate control, larger buttons on the audio faceplate, imitation wood trim on XLE models, optional leather seats with driver-side power on LE models and new LE model seat fabric. The hood is now supported with struts and dampers.

Pros:
  • Toyota reliability, updated looks, optional V6 power.
Cons:
  • Luxury options quickly jack up price, uncomfortable seats.

  • Wonderful Car! - 2000 Toyota Camry

Bought my Camry new in 2002, and have had a great experience! With 164,000 miles, I still have only changed timing belt & water pump. Have done all my own maintenance, and gas mileage has gone up since new, to trip average of 35 mpg/70 mph. I love to drive the car, its wonderfully quiet, handles perfectly, supple ride, my only request would be better seats, longer leg support, and adjustable rake. What a fantastic car!

  • No More Toyotas For Me - 2000 Toyota Camry

I think we all know the Camry history, solid - if unexciting - performance coupled with legendary Toyota reliability. Unfortunately, its clear that Toyota has seriously lost its edge and my confidence. At just over 80,000 miles the engine on our Camry seized - and its likely that oil gel or sludge is the culprit. Even following the manufacturers recommendation of 7,500 miles between oil changes was insufficient. So we basically now have a junk car when we thought we had another 100,000 miles in her. I guess Im a Honda man now.

  • Things fall off - 2000 Toyota Camry

Bought used in 2002 with 30,000 miles. As for reliability couldnt be better. At 100,000 miles replaced belts, hoses, & water pump. Thats it!! but the interior seems cheaply made. At 135,000 miles there is a leak that we cant find and back window has come off track Cover for fuse box on side keeps coming off and carpet is coming from under the door. Front seat broke. But at 32 mpg Ill keep it til the doors fall off. Fairly good on brakes and tires. My daughter will get in when she gets her license. May buy something a little more exciting then.

We have been very happy with the quality, comfort, and handling of the Camry LE. We have had absolutely no problems and the engine is smooth running. Gas mileage is outstanding.

  • Love My V6 XLE - 2000 Toyota Camry

Bought my car use with 32,000 miles. It now has 107,000 and no problems at all. One spark plug change and front brakes, use Mobil 1 oil every 6 thousand miles. Love the car, the leather, stereo, rims, and moon-roof. Nothing like it. My 96 Mustang blew head gaskets at 100,000 just after the warranty was up. I will keep my Camry, thank you.

  • The Camry - 2000 Toyota Camry

One good Car thats all I can say. We bought the car certified in April of 2003. For 3 years old we got it for just under 13,000, and 36,000 miles. Not one problem after a year and a half. The car has the reliabilty part down to par, but now we have to get some excitment. The V6 was probably the fastest in its class for 2000. The suspension is a little bouncy, and the interior is a little ugly compared to the Celica. Toyota could have a better car then the passat all around. But deffinitly would buy another one. Best car I ever bought when it comes to down to the money. Awsome sound system and its not the JBL version.

  • Great Make - 2000 Toyota Camry

Bought mine brand new in year 2000 and has about 128000 miles and runs as great as in 1st year. Ride is very smooth, does not make noise. In the initial I could not wait to drive it. Still loving every minute driving it.

  • few problems - 2000 Toyota Camry

I havent had a lot of problems, engine check light started coming on. Had sensor replaced, O2 and then another, cost around 1000 for both. Then battery wouldnt start. Then alternator. Except for when the battery went, its always started. Had some road noise with the pirelli tires that were on it. Changed to some goodyear comfortred and now its real quiet. I like the gas mileage and it is fun to drive. When I bought it, gas was 1.85 a gallon here, remember. Then Katrina hit and gas went up to 3.00. I was planing on more trips with this then gas got too expensive. Still, getting around isnt bad.

  • Good performance... - 2000 Toyota Camry

Ive had this car for almost 3 years, and the results are very satissfactory. The car runs great, and its very reliable, and neat. The only problem I had with this car since I leased was with the alignement, or tires. In other words, the car always pulled to the sides. Bottom line? Before you get your car, and believe me toyotas are very reliable and great cars. Test drive the autmobile "WITH NO RUSH" Check to see if it feels the car drives right. If it doesnt? DO NOT BUY IT. Go to a different dealer and until you find what you like.. oh and remember you arent buying apples....This is an INVESTMENT ;)
