Overview & Reviews
The 2013 Hyundai Sonata receives a minor shuffling of features among trim levels. Most notably, the base GLS model's manual transmission is no longer available, as a six-speed automatic is now standard throughout the lineup.
- Stylish and comfortable cabin
- Lengthy warranty.
- Lots of standard and optional features for the money
- Top fuel economy
- Strong acceleration
- Distinctive styling affects rear headroom
- Rough ride in SE trim.

Great car - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By rto2 - October 20 - 12:51 pmsmooth, economical, and a great ride. Would buy again. Highly recommend. Bought from a dealer that was the easiest to deal with in 30 years of car buying. [non-permissible content removed]

Waited 5 years to buy this - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By PhotoPro - August 23 - 11:49 amIt took totaling my previous car to be able to get this one. Design in 2011 took auto design by storm. From Chevy to BMW everyone over the past 5 years have changed their design to similar to the Sonatas aggressive slant forward design. I have only owned the car for 30 days, but have really fallen in love and only found minor little irritants and nothing that is difficult or a problem. All of the dash design and electronics are very intuitive.

Terrible gas mileage - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By herbthau - August 23 - 2:14 amThis is our third Hyundai Sonata. It gets just terrible gas mileage. The two previous Sonatas got much better mileage. Went back to dealer and got this answer from the technician. There were no codes showing a problem and 19.9 city and 27 highway is acceptable. Called Hyundai and got nowhere. This is not acceptable. This is my last Sonata. Herb

Engine Shaking and Vibrating - Becareful..! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By andress360 - July 21 - 4:24 amI bought a my first Hyundai ever.....2013 Sonata 2.4 GLS with 9,700 miles, after a couple days (( 85 miles )) I noticed and Shaking, Vibrating sensation that comes from the engine. This is very irritating and disturbing since Hyundai is suppose to be coming up with better quality, sad to say but this gives me much to worry about since it can only get worse as I add miles to the car. I never had this issue with cars., so Ill be taking back to the dealer for service. After finding about this issue I wish I would have bought from Toyota, or Nissan. Very discouraging. If you do decide to buy this car make sure that you get their Top Service Warranty.

2013 Sonata burning oil - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By laurafowler14 - July 14 - 5:03 amI loved my 2002 Elantra. I needed a larger vehicle so I bought a brand new 2013 Sonata. My Sonata started burning oil around 36,500 miles. I have been going back a fourth to the dealership doing oil consumption tests. After 3 tests, it has burned up 4.5 quarts in about 2,000 miles. I still cant get anyone to fix the problem. Instead, the dealership says I need to do 1,000 more miles of oil consumption tests and corporate says I need to do 3,000 more miles of oil consumption tests. The warranty sounds great but good luck with getting them to fix anything that is covered.

Engineered - Built Great / Gas Mileage Sucks - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By Harry Ridge - June 9 - 9:37 pmLove the car, however, my heavy mini-van with a V6 gets almost as much mileage. Only other complaint - I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the dealer to repair the AC.

Excellent car for the price! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By tpratt2590 - May 4 - 12:56 amI traded off a fully loaded 2011 GMC Terrian for this car and have owned it since May 31, 2012 and enjoy driving and riding in the car. I own the limited edition without the turbo and very impressed with the horsepower under the hood. After reading some of the other reviews of how the car is sluggish, paint coming off the car, makes me wonder who is writing the reviews. After going from a V6 in the GMC to this car, I was impressed with the power. The interior of the limited is comfortable and spacious and has plenty of leg room. The car rides quietly without any road noise. Good car for the money!

A lemon underneath a very nice looking exterior - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
By judgemalloy - August 27 - 12:39 amThe 2013 Sonata is a very nice looking car. I traded in a 2010 Elantra for the Sonata. The Elantra is a much better car than the Sonata. The Sonata has a very rough ride, especially at highway speeds. I expect this to lead to abnormal tire wear. The GPS/Radio/Bluetooth/AC combination is poorly designed and difficult to use. The combination design gives you control over one function at a time. For example, when the navigator is active and you receive a call, the navigator goes to the background. If you are on the call when you need to make a turn, you will miss it. The voice recognition feature is absolutely horrible. I have gone to using an external GPS and avoid using the built-in
