Overview & Reviews
After an extensive refreshing last year, the 2010 Hyundai Sonata stands pat with the exception of the GLS trim, which is now available only with the four-cylinder engine.
- Upscale interior, lots of features for the price, lengthy warranty.
- Ride can be jittery despite soft suspension, bland overall character.

Great 2009 Sonata Limited 2.4 Auto w/Nav - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By Rons 2009 - December 28 - 11:36 amThis is a great car! Traded in 2005 Maxima, much better ride, first tank in mixed driving achieved 28.4mpg, second tank got 26. build quality is excellent. All this and much more. Plenty of power to feel comfortable merging into traffic. And all for 10 Grand less than new Maxima. We are quite impressed.

Broken door handle, door lock, fuel cap and counting.. - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By raka1212 - August 12 - 9:54 pmI was excited initially with the value of the car but after four years I am now wondering. First problem I had was with engine light code 442, went to dealer two times but they keep claiming it is a loose fuel cap issue. I am making sure the cap is tight after every fill and even changed cap with new oem cap still this issue is persistent. Then I had one remote door lock issue which was fixed with a new lock. Now I have one broken door handle. When I searched about door handle, it was surprised to know that it is a known issue with this car as the door handles are made of cheap plastic not metal like other car and easily breaks. Not sure if I will consider Hyundai brand again.

Stiff Ride - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By Dan P. - July 22 - 12:29 pmIf you do much driving on rough roads be prepared for a hard ride. Otherwise I love this car. Roomy, easy to drive, great in the snow, handles corners beautifully. Would like it a little less road noise but not too bad.

dependable, reliable, and inexpensive to maintain - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By Chris - July 1 - 3:32 amI bought the car used in 2010 with 30,000 miles on it for $11,000. So far with regular maintenance Ive had to do nothing but brakes, tires and a battery. I now have 156,000+ and still amazed on how well it runs. I still get 34 mpg on the Hwy and 28+ mixed driving. It was driven daily to and from work 100 miles round trip for 4 years and then recreational driving after retirement for 2 years. Throw in a round trip cross country loan to my daughter , multiple heavy trips to Home Depot, good in the snow, brakes stop on a dime, only had to use the ESC once on an abrupt lane change to avoid an accident ( kind of freaked me out how the car took over) . Everything works as well as the day I bought it A/C, transmission, water pump , power steering etc.

My first Hyundai - A Great Automobile. - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By dlp6 - June 16 - 1:26 amCar handles well in all weather conditions. Comfortable to drive. Good visibility. Lots of room when rear seats folded down. Car has good balance, low tire wear. I have 128,000 km on rear tires and dont have to change them yet. Front tires changed at 115,000 km. No problems from new - One warranty issue to have transmission re-programmed - solved rough shifting that had developed. Quiet on both city roads and highway. Dash is great, easy to read, and controls very accessible. Almost feels like a full size car inside. Have purchased 2013 Sonata GLS and have kept 2010 as a second car. Very reliable.

perfect sales rep. vehicle - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By hantover - February 7 - 4:46 amBought my Sonata new 2 1/2 years ago. Currently have 94,000 miles on her. High miles due to my profession as a sales rep. covering 5 states. Only one problem was a check engine light at around 40K - dealer said it was some problem with the fuel cap. No problems since. Routinely get 32 mpg highway. I have owned 32 cars since 1977. This one and Honda Accords have been the best for ride, comfort, gas mileage, and reliability. Left the sales rep. job 8 months ago, so I wont be driving the usual 50K per year. I intend to keep this one for another 10 years.

Faulty Brakes - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By pas7 - January 4 - 12:25 pmThis is the second Sonata that i owned. The first was a 2007 and the brakes and rotors needed changing at 45000 miles, at the first service the tech said that the brakes would not release, warantee work cost $75. When I got the next one a 2010 I was told that the brake system was corrected, now at 22000 miles I had to change the pads and rotors. LAST HYUNDAI I WILL OWN. Pads and rotors from Amazon cost $88 Delivered. The h... with the dealer.

It does everything well - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By Brian - December 25 - 2:50 amAfter leasing my first four new cars (all GM), I settled on buying and truly evaluated a lot of options in the midsize category, foreign and domestic. I was sold on the Sonata from the first test drive. Ive driven 2,600 miles so far, and heres my conclusion: its a car that isnt exceptional in any one area, but does just about everything well. It feels solid and well built inside and out, offers a great blend of power and fuel economy (no worries about highway merging/passing), holds a lot of cargo and offers great value for the money. Not to mention the fantastic warranty. Hyundai has a real winner here.

Why you might consider Sonata 2010 - 2010 Hyundai Sonata
By Gary - December 13 - 10:00 amIf you are tight on cash and need to save those $2000 but dont want to buy a second hand car. I mean $2000 could buy you 2 years of gas. I will only compare this one to 2008 Accord and 2006 Camry because i have driven them both. The drivers seat is not as firm, steering is not as nimble and car has a floaty feel to it. Suspension is not as tight. The dashboard plastic crackles once in a while. The mileage is great, controls are easy and well placed. I saved $2000 on similarly equipped Camry and accord.
