Great bang for the buck - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Benjamin A. - May 10 - 6:15 pmAs much as I want to say that my new car is great in every way... It isnt. But its extremely GOOD and very well priced. The interior materials use hard plastics in very unfortunate places (hurts to rest elbow or side of knee on door panel!), the seat bolsters arent big enough for slippery leather, and winter traction has been downright alarming. On the other hand, the stereo has absolutely fantastic sound, the car has a very comfortable suspension and steering, and while it is on the slow side, its great for cruising once youre up to speed. Fuel economy has also been better than expected. The place where it really shines though, is price. It was a full $4000 less than similarly outfitted midsize sedans. While it isnt the best car Ive ever owned, its not far off, and the value-for-money is outstanding.

Love my baby.... - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Gabe - September 26 - 4:28 pmGreat value. I call my 2018 Turbo Sport "Leila" because she is a beautiful black piece of machinery. There were other models I was interested like the sporty version of the Camry and the Tesla but for all practical reasons, the Sonata have me the best value for my $$$. The only improvement I strongly recommend is that the stereo system lacks BASS power.

First Hyundai Ever - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Don B - May 6 - 7:22 pmWe have just purchased a new Sonata Limited with Ultimate Package for my wife. This is her first non Toyota car ever, after having 10 Toyotas in the past. We started out looking at the new Camry then the Altima and the Accord. Her first inclination was to go with the Camry but as we talked with the dealer and put together an offer she found several things about it that turned her off. The Hyandai dealer was close at hand so we began to look closely at the Sonata. We were able to put together a deal with a comparably equipped Sonata at thousands less than the Camry. We have just had the car delivered so it will be sometime before I can put together a more comprehensive review. The initial quality and delivery were excellent, but time and miles will tell if it holds up. My wife is not an aggressive driver, nor a car enthusiast, she views cars as merely an appliances. We hope the car provides her with reliability and comfort. Stay tuned for updates/

Very good, Excellent value - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Joe the delivery man - August 5 - 4:39 amI got this car to replace my 2015 Sonata. Not sure the new style is better, I kind of liked the 2015 better, especially the rear with the plates on the trunk. But overall this is a terrific car for your money, save for a few drawbacks. The car drives well, nice quite ride and respectable handling, but ride is not as smooth as a Camry and handling not as good as an Accord, Mazda6, or as precise as a Fusion. Pros include: Slightly better ride/steering over my 2015. Better interior, smart controls (w/ non-auto climate), tuning knob, custom button. Overall is exemplary, very intuitive designed with nice big clearly labeled buttons and knobs. Touch screen is responsive, although some corners dont respond like its supposed to. The interface is also quite easy to use. LCD Shows date (wish it would also show exterior temperature). Car doors make a satisfying thud when they close. Still a fully printed owners manual! Cons include: Brakes still too touchy, it makes too abrupt stops. Steering is still too feather-light. Heated mirrors are no longer included in the base model - something Hyundai used to offer all these years. No CD player. I know many cars today omit them, but I really miss it. Home screen should be more customization. Would like to get rid of the AV Off message. Some settings are confusing. Ugly gauges (miss the 2015 Elantra). Only 1 USB for music & Android Auto. Bluetooth makes problems (I have a basic phone). No gap-less music player. Headlight delay is 5 min or none! Overall interior is not too pretty (2018 Accent is nicer). Cant turn off the LCD between the gauges.

Hyundai makes great improvements on 2018 Sonata - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Dave Jahnke - October 26 - 10:29 amFeature rich at a very affordable price. Technology package only 1000.00 extra, and adds many additional features beyond the already standard blind spot detection and cross traffic alert. New 7" display screen and Apple CarPlay standard. Subtle styling tweaks improve the staid appearance of the 2015 which I traded in for a 2018. Too early to comment on reliability, but my 2015 had no problems in the 3 years and 66000 miles I drove it.

Enjoyable Car Except When Dealing With Hyundai - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By TalkRadioGuy - April 20 - 6:58 pmComfortable cabin with easy to use features for the most part. The different drive modes are nice and there is a noticeable difference in response when using Sport mode, which I prefer. Not sure why but if using Sport mode it reverts back to the default Comfort setting when the car is turned off but if using the Eco mode it will remember that setting. Navigation has proven to be less than optimal, on long trips we still rely on google maps which are better to begin with but have the added feature of real time traffic avoidance suggestions that prove to save much time. I find it odd that the map lights are a bright white (which I like) but the visor lights and rear dome lights are a dim yellow light. The remote start via Bluelink phone app is reliant on a cell link to the car so it has had about a 20% failure rate for me so while it is a nice feature I wish this vehicle also had remote start that could be triggered from the key fob. This is my first vehicle with keyless entry and start and I love that feature, never having to remove the key fob from my pocket to open doors and start the car is wonderful. Because of the push button on the door handles and the auto opening trunk I have never once used the buttons on the key fob. So overall I love the car, but the downside of the vehicle is dealing with Hyundai. I had an initial issue with the Bluelink account setup with which the dealer couldnt figure out and Hyundai was very little help. It took me 6 weeks of calling every 2-3 days to resolve the situation. I also recently scheduled service for the vehicle via the Bluelink app and the factory ordered update to the computer was not performed, it seems that the dealership either doesnt understand the information sent from Bluelink or ignores it. Either way this is a problem being that they want to charge me $100 a year for this feature after the third year. Summary, nice car but absolutely dread dealing with Hyundai. For full disclaimer Ive dealt with Honda for the past 10 years and the difference in service is huge.

Tall Guy in a Hyundai - 2018 Hyundai Sonata
By Geoff Alderson - December 2 - 12:47 amI’m 6’ 3â€, lots of headroom in this car. Easy to exit as the driver’s seat moves rearward when the engine in turned off and the shift lever is in Park. Driver’s seat also has adjustable lumbar support. Has adaptive headlights – front lights turn when steering wheel is turned. Trunk is large, plus the back seats fold down for additional room. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) uses radar signals and camera recognition. AEB has many limitations, be sure to read the Owner’s Manual for more info on this. Quite cabin on city streets. As Edmunds noted, some tire noise at freeway speeds. With the turbocharger, lots of power for entering the freeway and for passing. No heads up display, but speed is displayed in a large font in instrument cluster. Looks beautiful in quartz white pearl.
