This Year's Model Updates:

For 2000, Subaru introduces the new Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan, a cross between an aggressive driver's car and a sedan. More standard equipment comes on the 2.5 Coupe and Sedan while the L model remains unchanged. The Outback Sport receives some exterior design changes. All Impreza models now come with 24-hour roadside assistance.

Pros:
  • Pros: All-wheel drive, scrappy personality, bulletproof reliability record, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Tight rear seat, no ABS option for L models, a bit pricey.

I bought this impreza l coupe 3 months ago for my job. I have put 10k miles on it in 3 months and this car has been amazing inside and out. If you want a reliable motor the 2.2 is the way to go as long as you do your basic maintenance this car will go above 200k mark easy. This is my 2nd Subaru and i can say that for the price, this is the best investment ive made.

Pre-WRX, just add the goods and you will find the awd power slide. Grips like the true champ in WRC. Only the ones that know, buy it! Either 4dr or 2dr, no biggie there.

  • Best looking Impreza ever brought 2 USA - 2000 Subaru Impreza

Very sharp, attractive car draws attention from everyone. A blast to drive. Very easy to control, with a little bit of understear. Great low end torque allows it to hang with cars such as the Eclipse GST and GSX from a stand still. Holds its value very well. People that own it dont want to sell it. If you are looking for more horsepower, there are many easy bolt on upgrades available, or you can always do a motor swap. Auto transmission is good, but not recommended if you are thinking about adding a lot of power to it. I purchased my Impreza RS brand new, and now Subarus are just about all I will drive. Oh, and the AWD is great on a track, street, or in the dirt.

  • no regrets - 2000 Subaru Impreza

Overall a versatile, reliable and fun to drive car. Ive had few problems except for noises from heat shields and rear hatch. Interior is cheap in places and frameless windows will let water in from car washes. On the plus side it has been cheap to maintain and no warranty fixes, and I have not babied this car. It goes through 8" of snow/mud and can pack lots of gear. It handles much better than any small SUV and is as quick as many "sports" cars with lots of low end torque. Manual transmission is notchy and gas mileage is not outstanding. Overall a great vehicle for hauling outdoor gear, camping and auction buys.

  • Great car/crappy company service - 2000 Subaru Impreza

I love this car except for the fact Ive had to replace the wheel bearings three times already. This is a common defect, which can be fixed easily by replacing with outback bearings, according many of the club sites, but Subaru Customer service varies greatly depending on location. I had a sales nightmare at Stevens Creek. Livermore Subaru put you through the wringer when I tried to get warrantied repairs done. Turlock Subaru was awesome. They are the only reason I stayed with Subaru.

I never had a warranty or reliability problem with this car. One recall for oxygen sensor. Probably one one of the most ovelooked carsin the world.

  • Love my Subaru Wagon - 2000 Subaru Impreza

I love my Subaru Impreza Outback Wagon. Its such a reliable little car and is always ready to haul gear for my band, carry mulch for the garden, or go on vacation. My costs for repair in the last five years have been minimal, with the exception of replacing one oxygen sensor (to meet NY state inspection) and replacing the timing belt (standard after 60,000 miles).

I have a 2000 Outback Sport and its a great car. I was going to get a 2002, I drove both standard and auto. If you want a more fun car to drive, go with the 2002, it gets an added 20 horse and 20 torq. But if you like the "Power Bulge" get a 2001 or older model, the car looks great, and its awesome to see the look on peoples face getting beat by a wagon. and off road capaple out the wazoo. great suspension, great handling. handles, and grips better than my brothers Jaguar XK8, overall this is one fun car.
