Overview & Reviews
For 2000, Subaru introduces the new Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan, a cross between an aggressive driver's car and a sedan. More standard equipment comes on the 2.5 Coupe and Sedan while the L model remains unchanged. The Outback Sport receives some exterior design changes. All Impreza models now come with 24-hour roadside assistance.
- Pros: All-wheel drive, scrappy personality, bulletproof reliability record, fun to drive.
- Tight rear seat, no ABS option for L models, a bit pricey.

My subaru is dead :( - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By Accurateimage - August 12 - 10:00 amCountless tranny problems that SOA ignored, had them since the beginning and one the car hit 60,000 miles which is the warrenty they basically told me to kiss there rears, WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER SUBARU AGAIN FROM THE CONSTANT TRANNY PROBLEMS, THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 7 MONTHS NOW BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTRA $1200 EVERY 30,000- 40,000 MILES TO FIX THE OUTPUT SHAFT PROBLEMS IN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT SUBARU DOES NOTHING ABOUT!!!!!

I really wish this had been a better car - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By ImissmyVW - July 31 - 10:00 amWell, Ive had this car for two years and its been nothing but a burden. Despite following all care and warranty maintenance schedules. Ive had engine problems with throttle loss. (Chronic) The stainless steel exhaust still got a hole in the mid pipe. I dont drive it hard or lean on the clutch but Ive replaced the clutch at 70,000 KMS and not two days later the engine starts to misfire needs new distributor, leads and spark plugs. The auto window elevators have also left scratches on both driver and passenger window. A slew of other little problems. I had some fun but it wasnt worth the money.

Loved the Impreza RS!! - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By SportyChic - March 14 - 10:00 amThis was my first car, and I absolutely loved it. Never failed me in the snow storms. Perfectly hugs the road and turns like youre in a high speed car chase! It was my baby, and now its going to my younger sister. If you love to drive fast and look good doing it, this is the car.

Caffeine-free version of Impreza WRX - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By Space_Monkey - March 1 - 2:00 amAWD is no excuse to drive with abandon, but it instills more confidence in inclement weather. Despite small engine, lacking turbo of new Subarus, acceleration is adequate. Braking is never a problem. Uncommon exterior appearance turns heads (but Im tiring of others trying to race me.) Front seats are comfortable over long distances; offer good support when cornering. Climate system works well; use of A/C hardly affects power. Components (brakes, exhaust) have lasted longer than expected.

awesome - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By Solberg - January 3 - 5:56 pmBought it fron uncle at EXTREMELY lowprice and it is a great car. My wholelife i have been a scooby freak eversince the familys first subaru (loyale).Every person i get into one of these never goes elsewhere. Great car, handles great in snow, fun to drive, extremely reliable, and quite peppy even in automatic form. I love the steering andhandling and on dry road you can feelthe tarmac sucking grip of the "Subarusymetrical AWD", Comfortable car also. All around great car and would recomendany Subaru to anyone no matter what their needs there is a Subaru for them.

clutchsqueak - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By bond007 - June 13 - 3:23 amLove the car and fun to drive. So does everyone else that encounters it. Have had impromtu offers for same. Only thing is a tiny tiny clutch squeak, does not affect performance, Subaru has checked, indicate it is inherent in the car.

Impreza - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By nukegirl - May 7 - 2:00 amThis car is super practical for a single, active person and really fun to drive. Acceleration and handling are great. I cant think of a better fit for me at this time in my life.

Still great! - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By DavisJ - January 22 - 2:00 amI have owned my 2000 Impreza RS 4dr for a little over three years and its been incredibly reliable with no problems outside of routine maintenance. All Subarus are incredibly reliable. I plan on driving my Impreza to over 100K miles. I do lots of driving and my 2000 RS now has 64K miles. I recently replaced the stock tires which were great tires. I could have kept them for another 10K miles, but the winter is coming. The RE92s were a great V-rated tire. This has been just an overall great car to own and the AWD is just great in the snow and rain.

only problems - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By scooby2 - October 12 - 10:00 amI had only problems with this car, they had to change the clutch, the alarm, twice the windows due to scratch, the rail of the moon roof, paint can scratch very easely, metal parts are bad quality and so on. The car was apparently not checked at the manufacturing plant exit. I have now the engine that misfires, a strange paper burnt odor that the dealer cannot fixed. Very poor customer service and inefficient dealer. I would not recommand the car to anyone. Too much body roll when driving hard and the clutch is a nightmare when cold and when driving fast.

Wonderful car - 2000 Subaru Impreza
By my car - September 10 - 2:00 amI bought this car right when it came out, and I have never regretted it. From the time that I have had the car, the only real problem I have had is that the alarm got messed up at one point, and a Subaru Dealership fixed it, provided me a rental, and had the car towed in all for no charge, even though the warranty was already up. I have been hit a few times since I got this car, and every time the body of my car would show only a scratch when the other car would need some major work. I would definietly recommend this car to anyone, especially with the good mileage and with how well the car retains its value.
