The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Move over BMW, Lexus and Infinity. - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Wikoli - December 3 - 10:56 amTraded an 09 Santa Fe: ran well but unexciting & subpar fit & finish (another review). Improvements on the 10 CX-7 GT are significant, and and are the reason we purchased. And hopefully Mazdas addressed all issues (A/C compressor, turbo, ride, quietness, MPG etc.). I find this car a lot of fun to drive, and the new interior is very nice. Think youd have to buy BMW, Infinity or Lexus to meet or beat this thing. Got the Red on light leather and it looks fantastic. Some turbo lag, but you have to drive it right. Finese it, and once its rolling, it flies. It does have road noise on rough roads, but worth the trade-off for great handling. Hopefully its reliable cause Im Im lovin it.

By BC94121 - November 23 - 7:40 amBeen a proud CX-7 owner for about a month now and we absolutely love, love, love it! Its a great looking CUV/SUV that definitely handles more like a sporty car, especially when that turbo kicks in and youre hitting those curvy roads! The fun factor and looks factor sure does beat the pants off of a RAV4, CRV, or Murano. The Bose system is awesome. Its like having Bono & Edge jamming in the car with us as were driving. My only gripes would be the locks not automatically locking when the car is in gear - kind of a no brainer to include. Also wished it came with a optional manual 6 speed. Bottom line: A-W-E-S-O-M-E vehicle!

Great CUV For Small Family - 2009 Mazda CX-7

Purchased my 09 CX-7 AWD Sport(w/Bose and sunroof)in March after completing a short term lease on an 07. Perfect vehicle for a small family or an adventurous couple. Its a car(?) I love to drive on a daily basis and its fantastic for road trips.(I mounted a trailer hitch on mine and we take our bicycles with us on our trips.) Mileage was quite poor on my 07, but I still bought my 09. Surprisingly mileage is better on my 09. I get around 18-19mpg in local driving and as much as 24mpg in pure highway driving(w/premium). For a little under 23K this is a CUV that could compete with more more expensive vehicles.

Nice little SUV - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By surfsuv - November 7 - 1:13 amI leased the CX7 to get me and my surfboard to the beach on the weekends. It also does the Costco and Home Depot runs. Since the car was for utility only it is basically stripped. I added a Pioneer in-dash nav unit with an iPod connection to control it through the nav unit. Works great looks ok too. Since the car is stripped, it does not have the outside temp. Should be standard like other Ford products. The car is fun to drive compared with other SUVs. It feels very car like and sporty. Has decent speed but, if you push it hard, it will kill the gas mileage. I have about 12,000 miles and have had no issues with it. So far, it has only needed oil changes. Tires look like they will go to 25k

2 years and still loving it - 2008 Mazda CX-7

I had driven a Mazda 6 for a few years before after converting from Honda, and was really impressed with the company, so decided to give the new sporty SUV a try...it was a great choice! I normally dont like driving SUVs or trucks because they feel too big, and the CX-7 is a perfect fit for me! I have the black on black model and adore driving it. I take it to the mountains all year and it handles great, even in thick snow and icy conditions. Im always the one volunteering to drive when its time for road trips and such, and I usually hate driving. Overall, its a great car with solid looks and performance.

Value SUV - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By Ed - October 12 - 7:33 pmHave owned the vehicle 18 months. Replaced the factor tires at 12K miles, and the AC compressor at 26K. Both very unacceptable, (AC was covered by warranty.) With that said, this vehicle represents the most car for the money in its segment. I have a Grand Touring with Navigation and paid less than 29K. Try and find anything for that price that drives like this car. It has plenty of room, drives and looks great, and it gets around 20 mpg. My lease ends this November and I will most likely buy this CX7 at lease end. If you drive this car, and compare it to it to other SUVs, you will buy it. Compare this to an Acura MDX and you will have an extra $10K to buy a few extra set of tires.

But, it is a car with speed and if you are looking for a vehicle with good room, sexy design, and performance and last but not least, a MAZDA, then you will be in complete heaven!
